Iron compounds in sod-podzolic soils on Permian deposits affected by surface gley
1994
Vodyanitskij, Yu.N. | Vasil'ev, A.A.
Brinckman's ferrolysis theory is supplemented by the concept of "auto-retarding effect of iron oxydes synthesis" (Vodianitskiy, 1992). The concept is based on the fact of pH and Eh shifts during one of ferrolysis stages, which hinders the synthesis of some iron oxides, lepidocrocite, in particular. Thus effect results in lower concentrations of lepidocrocite in iron neoformations, than in the fine earth. Lepidocrocite crystals prove to be finer in soils on Permian deposits, specifically, those in concretions. Such indices, as bogging coefficient (Fe/Mn) or Schwertman's criterion do not adequately characterize gley processes in these soils
