The analysis of variance components has shown that variability in total phosphorus content in tubers was affected mostly by environmental conditions (84 percent), whereas the phosphorus content in starch by variety properties of potatoes (78 percent). Participation of starch phosphorus in total phosphorus of tubers varied in individual varieties and amounted to 14-36 percent. Majority of studied varieties did not show any correlation between total phosphorus content in potato tubers and in starch
