On dynamic equilibrium of gravel bed rivers

This article deals with application of the rational regime theory for stable channel prediction in case of gravel bed streams. The rational approach implies that the hydraulic channel geometry can be calculated using a hydraulic resistance law, an adequate bedload formula and some extreme hypothesis, for instance the minimum stream power per unit length , which holds for the channel dynamic equilibrium. The numerical procedure is illustrated by an example.
