Genetic resources of forage crops

In addition to alfalfa and clover, crops of the Brassicaceae family are studied for forage utilization at the Research Inst. in Troubsko/Brno (Czech Republic). At present the institute is looking not for crops with the highest productivity but rather crops with ecological plasticity, tolerance of pathogens and environmental stresses, health and persistence. In this respect leguminous plants are very important. The seed material of all genetic resources of forage crops tested at the institute is deposited in the air-conditioned storehouse of the institute and in GB VURV Prague-Ruzyne
