The objective of a three-year study with double cropping was to assess the effectiveness of the symbiotic association of soybean and Bradyrhizobium japonicum. The investigation was carried out with two soybean varieties (Jelica and Danica) and two soybean lines (NS-L-2079 and NS-L-2081). The effectiveness of the symbiotic association monitored via nitrogen mass, content and percentage in the aboveground plant parts, nodules and the whole plant, and the obtained yields of grain. Nitrogen content in the whole plant, nitrogen percentage in the above-groud plant parts and the number of nodules were in correlation with the realized grain yield of double-cropped soybean. The variety Jelica had the highest nitrogen content in the whole plant, the highest nitrogen percentage in the aboveground plant parts, the largest number of nodules and the highest grain yield. The line NS-L-2079 had the smallest number of nodules, the lowest nitrogen percentage in nodules and the lowest grain yield.
