2000
Mammerickx, M.
From 1843 to 1867, the animal painter Edmond Tshaggeny achieved anatomical works with professor Thiernesse at the State veterinary school of Cureghem. He painted aquarelles in order to publish a Bovine anatomical atlas for artist's use. During his lifetime, the painter had no opportunity to find an editor. The atlas was edited a long time after his death, in 1921, thanks to one of the painter's nephews helped by professor Frateur from the Catholic university of Leuven. The original aquarelles of the atlas anatomical plates are at the present in the fund of the Catholic university of Leuven patrimony at Louvain-la-Neuve. They are in a remarkable state of preservation.
