The study presents the total investigation results on the effectiveness of several insecticides, aiming to control the most important noxious insects of alfalfa. The investigation results are especially important because the thresholds of noxiousness for nine economically most important noxious insects of alfalfa, as well as the periods of their mass appearance have been determined. Additionally, the table, shows the performance of 11 insecticides or preparations, so that, the most suitable choice of them can be done. It is also pointed to the terms for performing the chemical crop protection, particularly at green mass and seed production. Among significant non-pesticide measures for increasing yields of seed, it has been mentioned the influence of time on cutting the first swat towards the end of May and at the beginning of June. By that, it is achieved that the mass flight of Contarinia medicaginis Kief. does not coincide with the phase of crop development during which the oviposition takes place. Finally, it has been pointed to the importance of involving the forecasting service for more effective control of alfalfa pests.
