The meiosis was studied in 6 parents and 12 intervarietal F1s of rice. Processes of meiosis in cultivars in all phases was normal, conjugation of chromosomes was complete, 12 bivalents were observed at metaphase 1, A1- on 12 chrromosomes at each pole of cell. Cells of dyads and tetrads had correct form and contained one nucleus. The F1 hybrids percent of cells 1, had 1, less often 2 baculiform bivalents, changes from 0.3 up to 7.6%. In A1 cells with 1-2 lagging chromosomes were remarked, which in dyads organized micronucleus. Percent number of A1 cells and dyads with abnormalities changed, accordingly from 2.9 up to 11.5% and from 1.1 up to 14.9%. In all cells (from 0.9 up to 11.6%) with 1 lagging chromosome and asynchronous divisions were detected. The hybrid plants in F1 frequently had tetrads of incorrect form and abnormal divisions of spindle. In many cells 1-2 micronucleus was observed. F2 rice hybrids showed similar anomalies of meiosis. Abnormalities in meiosis processes were observed and at mutant rice forms. As a result of conducted researches the method of "cytological rejection" of hybrid and mutant rice plants was offered
