Leakage detection in pipelines and pipe network by induced transients

The paper presents theoretical basis for one "hydraulic" procedure for leakage detection in water supply networks. A relatively simple, but very useful, dimensionless relationship has been derived and checked against experimental data from literature. The same relationship is recommended for planning of field experiments in more complex networks, where the analysis in time domains is not sufficient and transformations in frequency and wavelet domain have to be used instead.
