Learning is a continuous process and it has transformed from a formal method to the present system of informal learning utilizing the modern electronic gadgets like computer, television, video, etc. In the formal method of learning, the teachers take the active role and hence it is teacher oriented than learner oriented. An ideal teaching method should impart to the knowledge, skill and attitude of the learners. Futher, it should make the learner to think, develop and update his knowledge. In the earlier method of teaching, the students are made to study whatever the teacher teaches. In the modern method the role of teacher and computer based teaching to a good extent. Computer based teaching is gaining importance due to its ease, simplicity and easy updation. The other methods like audio tutorials and video based teaching require expertise and technical superiority which are not required in computer based teaching require expertise and technical superiority which are not required in computer based teaching. At present three methods of computer aided teaching are practiced which include informatory, exploratory and instructional models. Each require a different approach of instructional method and strategy. The first presents information to students to satisfy their curiosity, the second involves the provision of both a computer based learning environment along with a set of tools that will enable this environment to be explored by the student and the third approach is the use of computer as a suitablity delivery vehicle for previously planned and tested course ware material. It is with this idea an attempt has been made to develop a computer aided instruction package on basics of veterinary virology to the under graduate students of B.V.Sc. The developed package belong to the third class of computer aided learning mentioned above. Such kind of a package has been developed for nematology
