California mastitis test (CMT) was performed in a herd of 200 dairy cows on weekly bases for one month and monthly intervals for following 5 months. Basic status of udder health was evaluated from monthly individual cow composite milk somatic cell count (SCC). During 6 months status of udder health indices were evaluated. Dynamic of CMT results were compared for each cow to find out possible early recognition of high somatic cell count cases already on quarter level. There was necessity to develop CMT evaluation key to compare CMT results with other udder health indices and decrease possible gradations from 254 to 10. Basic characters for the evaluation key were sum and maximum difference between quarter CMT scores of each cow. Statistical analyses performed allowed to separate 20% with unexplained short time fluctuating SCC and lowered lactose. CMT evaluation key is applicable for analysing results from regular udder health evaluations in large herds.
