In 2003-2004 in the laboratory of subfaculty of fruit and vegetable growing of Warninsko-Mazurski University the germination rate of Elaeagnus multiflora seeds of a seedling E-2 selected from plants, cultivated in the territory of Olsztyn (Northeast Poland) was studied. In the experience the germination rate of "fresh" seeds (been stratified immediately after their isolation from fruits) and seeds, previously been dried up in the open air, was studied. Two temperature modes were used: cold stratification - at temperature +5oC during all period of stratification and warm-cold ctratification - seeds keeping at temperature +20oC within first three weeks, and then at temperature +5oC up to the end of stratification. The friable river sand was used as a substrate. The maximal quantity of germinated seeds (76,0%) was received at the warm-cold stratification of "fresh" ones. At cold stratification of "fresh" seeds the germination rate amounted 24,25%. The germination rate of dried seeds was much lower and amounted 8,25% at the cold stratification and 20,25% at the warm-cold stratification
