Investigation on the technological parameters of new European spring brewing barley varieties

Fifteen new European spring brewing varieties were cutivated in two trial fields in Bulgaria. The technological parameters: yield, grading, 1000-kernel weight, protein and germination were determined. The barley samples with protein content up to 12.5% were micromalted using pilot facility Seeger , according standart procedure EBC. The obtained malts were qualified by the parameters: saccharification time, extract, extract differences, viscosity, soluble nitrogen, protein Kolbach index and color.
