[Cherry collection study results]

The results of study on major economic and biological indices (winter hardiness, resistance to cherry leaf spot and brown rot, productivity, fruit quality) of 125 cherry variety samples planted in the years of 1993-2003 in the collection orchard of the Institute for Fruit Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are represented. 25 winter hardy, 19 high resistant to diseases, 19 productive, 15 having high quality of fruit varieties were found out. The varieties are considered as a valuable initial material for further breeding in the directions mentioned above. The varieties Griot Seridko and Ujfehertoi fyurtos, which had been selected for the complex of economic traits, were passed to the system of State variety trials in 2004, and the variety Rovesnitsa was prepared for being passed to the system of State variety trials. These are the best representatives of a few varieties which were distinguished by the best trees safety after severe winters, high or middle stability to coccus-mycosis, high potential productivity growing in extreme conditions. The mentioned varieties have not been affected by monolia fire. Row of high winter hardiness varieties with common degree of freezing (no more than 0,5 points) is marked out: Almaz, Cherry local (Dobele), Griot Seridko, Zarya Tatarii, Novodvorskaya, Prizyv, Shubinka
