Effects of different ozone concentrations on soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) cv. Srisumrong 1 was investigated during 2007-2008 since seeding through maturing stage at Phitsanulok Province. Open-top chamber system was set to control the ozone level at three different levels i.e., at ambient level (32 ppb) lower (12 ppb) and higher (62 ppb) than ambient level. The results showed that ozone stress at high level induced the significant negative impacts on pigment content, yield components (100 seed weight) and protein content. Yield loss in CF sup(+O3) treatment (62 ppb) should be specially considered because of the significant reduction were also found by 13 percent. We also found the evident decrease by 94.7 percent in protein content under high ozone treatment. These results suggest that chronic high O3 exposure caused reduction in pigment, 100 seed weight and protein of soybean cv. Srisumrong 1.
