Solar heating of soil by mulching with transparent polyethylene (known as soil solarization) is aphysical method of soil disinfestation. The increase in soil temperature by solarization with asymmetric compound parabolic concentrator (ACPC) was measured. It was estimated the time which soil temperature exceeded some thermal levels in solarized soil. During the summers, experiments were carried out in a 1*1.2 square m Soil temperature was measured at 0 cm, 5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm and 50 cm depths in one solarized and uncovered plot. An increase of maximum soil temperature of 21.0 deg C, 10.8 deg C, 8.9 deg C, 6.7 deg C, 6.2 deg C and 4.3 deg C was observed in ACPC treated solarized soil at 0 cm, 5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm and 50 cm depths in comparison to the bare soil, respectively. The estimated exposure time at several thermal level in solarized soil allow to conclude that solarization with ACPC presents potential in controlling soilborne pathogens.
