Incidence of citrus nematode in the citrus growing areas of NWFP

Citrus orchards in the citrus growing areas of NWFP were surveyed during the year 2005-2006 for the occurrence and incidence of citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans (Cobb). Roots and soil samples collected from different locations were analyzed for the nematode. The results showed 64.93% samples infected with the nematode. Maximum infection (81.66%) was recorded in Malakand agency followed by Mardan, Peshawar and Nowshera showing 79.16%, 66.66% and 64.44% infection respectively. Population level of T. semiperetrans larvae exceeded 995 per kg soil to as high as 10825 per kg of soil in 70% samples.
