Fusarium toxin research in Sweden.
1995
Pettersson H.
The climate in Sweden is favourable for Fusarium, which is the most important toxigenic genus of the field fungi in the northern temperature regions. Three species F. culmorum, F. poae and F. avenaceum are common on harvested cereal grains. Mycotoxins produced by Fusarium were rather early assumed to be of potential health risk to animals and man in Sweden. Research on their toxicity, metabolism in animals, occurrence in cereals and production by fungi have been conducted in our laboratory since of middle of 1970ies. This presentation will deal with the most recent and interesting results and research on fusarium toxins, which have appeared from or are going on in our laboratory and in collaboration with others.
