Electrocardiographical studies on hypocalcemia in goats.
1983
Kang C.B.
Experimental hypocalcemia was induced in normal goats by intravenous infusion with various concentration of Na2-EDTA solution. Progressive depression of reflexes and body temperature, paresis, and cardiac arrest were observed in 2 groups infused with 4% and 8% EDTA solution. When plasma Ca decreased to 6mg/100 ml or below, sinus bradycardia or tachycardia and prolongation of OT interval were shown, while atrioventricular block was noted in which case the plasma Ca level decreased to 4 mg/100ml or below. Fibrillation and cardiac arrest were evident in which case the plasma Ca level decreased to as low as 3mg/100ml.
