Inglés. The authors report on serious damage to cultivated orchid species caused by Zonitoides nitidus O.F. Muller. The snail, referred to as noxious for the first time, feeds on buds, roots, rhizome and leaves. Efficacious chemical control was obtained with nethiocarb in preventive treatments on the substrate as well as on the growing plants.

Il mollusco, segnalato per la prima volta come dannoso, si nutre di gemme, radici, rizomi e foglie.
