[Extensional tectonics in the El Jadida-Agadir (Morocco). Triassic-Liassic basin during the early rifting of the Central Atlantic]. [English]

Inglés. The early Mesozoic red formations in western Morocco (El Jadida-Agadir basin), considered as "Permo-Triassic" by the former authors, appear to be much younger. The paleontological data indicate that their age is comprised between the Carnian and the Hettangian, with the exception of the Argana area, where the base of the series is older (Late Buntsandstein). Most of these formations were deposited within graben structures, parallel to the incipient rift, created during the NW-SE extension linked to the early stages of the opening of the Central Atlantic, similarly to the basins of eastern North America.
Mostrar más [+] Menos [-]PORTUGUES: As formacoes vermelhas do Mesozoico inferior da parte ocidental de Marrocos (Bacia de El Jadida-Agadir), consideradas como "permo-triasicas" pelos autores anteriores, aparecem como muito mais recentes. Os dados paleontologicos disponiveis indicam ume idade compreendida entre o Carniano e o Hetangiano, com excepcao da regiao de Argana, onde a base da serie e mais antiga (Buntsandstein superior?). Estas formacoes foram depositadas em fossas tectonicas (grabens), paralelas ao eixo do rift incipiente, criadas durante a extensao NW-SE relacionada com as etapas iniciais de abertura do Atlantico central, a semelhanca das bacias do leste da America do Norte.
