A comprehensive series of food and nutrition issues with three interrelated elements is reviewed in this report: (a) the intersectoral links between nutrition and national development, including living conditions, food availability, food consumption patterns and their determinants; (b) the nutrition status of the population, the links between health and nutrition status, and micronutrient deficiencies; and (c) the government's food and nutritional standpoint, and a series of conclusions and recommendations for the future.
