The aim of our study was to investigate the concentration of polyphenols in edible flowers of Allium schoenoprasum, Rumex acetosa, Trapogon pratensis and Trifolium repens, and their effect on proliferation activity of human hepatocellular carcinoma cells. The anti-proliferative effect was evaluated in vitro using the following concentrations of polyphenols: 100, 75, 50 and 25 microg/mL. Phenolic composition was determined by HPLC. Our results indicate that even low concentrations of polyphenols significantly inhibited cell proliferation. This effect was observed with all studied extracts and was independent on the composition of individual polyphenols.
