Determination of the best plant density for exotic sweet corn and super sweet corn hybrids
2010
Azizi, Farhad
In order to determine better plant density for some exotic sweet corn hybrids, an experiment was conducted in research field of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute at Karaj in 2008 and 2009. Five sweet corn hybrids (Chase, Temptation Challenger, Obsession and Basin) and three planting densities were evaluated in a factorial design in complete randomized block with three replications. Number of days to anthesis and silking, ASI, number of leaves, leaf area index, stem diameter, plant height, ear height, ear length and diameter, kernel yield, kernel depth, ear yield, ear index and harvest index were noted. Analysis of variace for years and combine analysis of variances were done. The result showed that the sweet corn hybrids didn't have any significat differences in the three planting densities for all of the traits. Hybrids Obsession and Temptation respectively were beter and worse hybris for most of the trait such as kernel and ear yield.
