The article provides a brief description of the physical–geographical location of the study area. Geomorphological, geological conditions of formation, climatic and hydrological conditions, morphogenetic description of the soil profile of characteristic soil types and analysis of diagnostic indicators of the current state of characteristic types of the northeastern slope of the Greater Caucasus are given according to the International WRB system.
