Data of official registrational trials with new genotypes of winter wheat and maize were the base for these investigations. Nine single cross maize hybrids of FAO group 200 and 9 double crosses of FAO group 500, as well as 17 varieties of winter wheat, were included. Experiments were grown according to proposed methodology in completely randomized block designs with 5-6 replications, at 5-6 locations in 1980, 1981 and 1982. As under Yugoslavian conditions the range of variation in environments is limited in some way, although from year to year is used for such trials, there was interest in values of stability parameters, in their mutual relations and in their relations with yield. The yield data were subjected to the analysis of variance and regression analysis, to estimate stability parameters: linear regression coefficient, mean square deviation from regression, coefficient of determination, interaction variance, and ecovalence. The main purpose was to investigate the relations among stability parameters and between them and yield, because of the consequences which appear after their use in ranking and evaluating of genotypes. From the results obtained, the following conclusions are suggested: - No difference in relations among yield stability parameters depending upon a crop (wheat or maize) was observed. - There was no correlation between yield and stability parameters neither for wheat, nor for maize. - Mean square deviation from regression, interaction variance and ecovalence were in medium to very high significant mutual correlation. The highest significant correlation obtained between interaction variance and ecovalence. As both of them are measures of interaction of a genotype with environment, or in other words measures of stability from the agronomic aspect, it is irrelevant which one to use.
