Fuel dynamics in an urban fringe dry sclerophyl forest in Victoria [fire hazards]
1986
Simmons, D. (Monash Univ., Clayton (Australia). Botany Dept.) | Adams, R. (Victoria College, Clayton (Australia). Faculty of Applied Science)
Quasi steady state litter levels were compared on sites unburnt for 20 years, and at various times since low-intensity burning for fuel reduction. Models of accumulation after burning suggest that it is needed every 3 to 5 years to maintain fire control; this may be undesirable for ecological reasons in some areas.
