Infection by Pseudomonas solanacearum is common in Malaysia in such economic crops as brinjal, chilli, ginger, groundnut, tobacco and tomato. Only in tobacco has the effect of the disease been adequately evaluated. A list of 43 alternative host records is provided. The disease can be found throughout the year on some crop or weed host. It is commonest in lowland Malaysia, but has been found in the highlands. It is recorded from all types of soil, mineral or organic.
