The phytophagous insects of Emex australis Steinheil in southern Africa and their potential for biological control in Australia [weed of pastures, cereals]
1990
Scott, J.K. | May, M.J. (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australia). Biological Control Unit)
45 phytophagous insects were found on, or have been reported from, the plant in southern Africa. Most were polyphagous or otherwise unsuitable as biocontrol agents. The potential agents found were a weevil, Perapion antiquum, and the pyramid moth, Microthrix inconspicuella. The weevil was released in Australia in 1974, and the moth is possibly insufficiently host specific.
