Abstract: A 1968 testimony by FDA's Associate Commissioner for Science before the US Joint Committee on Atomic Energy described some of the scientific problems presented by the US Army's petition for irradiated ham. It was concluded that a number of significant deficiencies in experimental design of the US Army research studies were found concerning scientific support of this petition.
