To assess the potential impacts of low hydration and adequate hydration on various clinical signs and symptoms. Materials and Methods: Signs and symptoms of hypersensitivity and constipation were evaluated, before and after the ingestion of 40 mL/kg/day of water, in 24 healthy academics, during 14 days of follow-up. Results: Headache, dizziness, fainting and insomnia were improved. However, it is important to highlight that no significant change was found in the shape and density of stools using the traditional Bristol Scale; but there was an improvement in the sensation of completely evacuating and, therefore, there is a possibility of the influence of adequate hydration on this result. Also, significant improvement was noted regarding the symptoms of acne, rashes or sores, and redness. Conclusion: Adequate hydration protocol (40 mL/kg/d of water for 14 weeks) improved several symptoms of healthy university students related to the central nervous system (headache, dizziness, fainting sensation and insomnia). However, further controlled investigations are needed to consider the external validity of the data for other populations.
