Análisis y cuantificación de metales pesados (Cd, As, Pb Y Hg) en agua y sedimentos del embalse Mazar – proyecto hidroeléctrico Mazar

El presente proyecto tiene como finalidad la detección de metales pesados (Arsénico, Cadmio, Mercurio y Plomo), en muestras de agua y sedimentos del embalse Mazar. El sitio de estudio se encuentra entre el sector Sacre y Chaullayacu, del Cantón Guachapala, Provincia del Azuay. Los métodos de muestreo utilizados dependieron de la naturaleza de la muestra tomada, en los cuerpos de agua se realizó la determinación insitu de los parámetros físico-químicos (pH, Temperatura y Color), luego estas muestras se empacaron y se enviaron al Laboratorio Elicrom Cia. Ltda. ubicado en Guayaquil, en donde fueron analizadas mediante espectroscopia de absorción atómica. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron la presencia de plomo en las muestras de agua, con un valor de hasta 0.0098 mg/L; en relación a los metales como Arsénico, Cadmio y Mercurio no se encontró presencia alguna. Mientras que en las muestras de sedimentos los resultados fueron más evidentes, con valores más altos de cada metal: Arsénico 9,5211 mg/Kg; Cadmio 3,8115 mg/Kg; Mercurio 0,0047 mg/Kg y Plomo 15,7298 mg/Kg. El análisis estadístico de los resultados se los realizo mediante el test de la prueba no paramétrica de Kruskal-Wallis con el software IBM SPSS para determinar diferencias significativas entre los puntos de muestreo, y mediante un análisis comparativo de los límites máximos permisibles dados en la normativa vigente TULSMA. La investigación ejecutada reflejó la presencia de metales pesados en sedimentos y agua del embalse Mazar, dicha presencia puede deberse a diversos factores entre ellos la presencia de residuos inorgánicos en los cauces de los ríos aguas arriba.

The purpose of this project is the detection of heavy metals (Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury and Lead), in water and sediment samples of the Mazar reservoir. The study site is located between the Sacre and Chaullayacu sectors, in the Guachapala Canton, Province of Azuay. The results obtained showed the presence of lead in the water samples, with a value of up to 0.0098 mg / L; in relation to metals such as arsenic, cadmium and mercury no presence was found. While in the sediment samples the results were more evident, with higher values of each metal: Arsenic 9.5211 mg / Kg; Cadmium 3.8115 mg/kg; Mercury 0.0047 mg/Kg and Lead 15.7298 mg/Kg. The statistical analysis of the results was carried out by the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test with IBM SPSS software to determine significant differences between the sampling points, and by a comparative analysis of the maximum permissible limits given in the current TULSMA regulations. The research carried out reflected the presence of heavy metals in sediments and water of the Mazar reservoir, this presence may be due to various factors including the presence of inorganic residues in the channels of the rivers upstream.
