Invasive insects damaging hazelnut plant (Corylus maxima Mill.) in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is one of the world's leading countries in the production of hazelnuts (Corylus maxima Mill.). The development of cultivation the hazelnuts in our republic is supported by the state. The pests of these plants should be carefully investigated and measures taken to combat them so that the grown product is of good quality and without loss. During the period of our research (2017-2023), 4 species of invasive hazelnut pests were identified: the fall webworm (Hyphantria cunea), the brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys), the citrus flatid planthopper (Metcalfa pruinosa) and southern barn moth or Indianmeal moth (Plodia interpunctella).
