Development and production of rice ( Oryza sativa L.) under different levels of water in Calabozo, Guárico State, Venezuela | Desarrollo y producción de arroz ( Oryza sativa L.) con diferentes profundidades de láminas de agua en Calabozo, estado Guárico, Venezuela

Water is a critical factor in the management of rice crop, however, the effect of the height of the flood sheet has not been studied deeply. The work aimed to evaluate the effect of different layers of flooding in the development and production of the rice plant in Calabozo, Guárico state, with the variety Fonaiap 1, in the cycle of watering of the year 1996, during the months of January - May. We used a randomized block design with four replications in slot arrangement. It tested three water heights: L0 (Saturation), L10 (10 cm height) and L20 cm tall. We evaluated growth parameters, production and performance. The analysis of correlation, covariance and variance indicated that there is simple relationship between the variables studied. The variety Fonaiap 1, increases the yield decreases the water sheet. No significant differences were found between L0 and L10 (8,600 and 8,500 kg.ha-1), but between L0 and L20 (6,800 kg / ha). The most heavily weighted variable in performance was the number of panicles/m, with 635 to L0; 562.2 and 463 for L10 and L20 respectively with the same statistical pattern. The reduction in the amount of water was used for L0 to 52.2% compared with L10 and L20. The results suggest that saturation irrigation provides performance and significant savings in the amount of water used, allowing to increase the planting area.

El agua es un factor crítico en el manejo del cultivo de arroz ( Oryza sativa L.); sin embargo, el efecto de la altura de la lámina de inundación no se ha estudiado profundamente. El trabajo realizado tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto de diferentes láminas de inundación en el desarrollo y producción de la planta de arroz, en Calabozo, estado Guárico, con la variedad Fonaiap 1, en el ciclo de riego del año 1996, durante los meses de Enero - Mayo. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar, con cuatro repeticiones en arreglo de franjas. Se probaron tres alturas de lámina de agua: L0 (Saturación), L10 (10 cm de altura) y L20 cm de altura. Se evaluaron parámetros de crecimiento, producción y rendimiento. Los análisis de correlación, covarianza y varianza simple indicaron que existe relación entre las variables estudiadas. La variedad Fonaiap 1, aumenta el rendimiento en la medida que disminuye la lámina de agua. No se encontraron diferencias significativas entre L0 y L10 (8.600 y 8.500 kg.ha-1), pero si, entre L0 y L20 (6.800 Kg.ha-1. La variable con mayor peso en el rendimiento fue el número de panículas/m2, con 635 para L0; 562,2 y 463 para L10 y L20 respectivamente con el mismo patrón estadístico. La reducción en la cantidad de agua utilizada fue a favor de L0 con el 52,2 % con respecto a L10 y L20. Los resultados sugieren, que el riego por saturación favorece el rendimiento y ahorro significativo de la cantidad de agua usada, permitiendo aumentar el área de siembra.
