El relleu de la ciutat de Mallorca a través de la cartografia (1596-1871) | The relief of the city of Mallorca through cartography (1596-1871)

Catalán; valenciano. Es tracta de comparar el reflex en la cartografia històrica del  relleu de la Ciutat de Mallorca ?ara Palma? entre els segles XVI i XIX. Comença el 1596 amb una planimetria absolutament indiferenciada on s’anota el curs de sa Riera que separa la vila d’Amunt de la vila d’Avall amb els ponts successius. Un cop desviat el curs fluvial (1613), la distinció entre les dues meitats de la ciutat aprofita una faixa ombrejada que introdueix l’enginyer militar Jeroni Cànoves (1726 ca.) i és reproduïda pels cartògrafs de l’òrbita de Pròsper Verboom. La primera planimetria amb isohipses es deu a l’enginyer militar anglès-mallorquí, Leopold Scheidnagel (1871) que, malgrat actuar a les ordres del coronel Ibáñez de Ibero, contradiu el sistema mètric decimal, adoptat el 1864.

Inglés.  This paper addresses a comparison on how of the relief of the City of Mallorca - now Palma - was presented in the historical cartography between the 16th and 19th centuries. It began in 1596 with an absolutely undifferentiated plan where the river course of Sa Riera is noted, which separated the town of Amunt from the town of Avall, with successive bridges, within the walled enclosure. Once the river course was diverted outside the walls (1615), the distinction between the two halves of the city took advantage of a shaded strip introduced by the military engineer Jeroni Cànoves (ca. 1726) and which was later reproduced by cartographers from the orbit of Próspero Verboom. The first planimetry with isohypses is due to another English-Mallorcan military engineer, Leopold Scheidnagel (1871) who, despite acting under the orders of Colonel Ibáñez de Ibero, contradicts the decimal metric system, adopted in 1864.
