Geolocalización de los principales cultivos agrícolas de las parroquias rurales San Luis y Quimiag del cantón Riobamba provincia de Chimborazo.

El objetivo de la investigación fue generar mapas temáticos de los principales cultivos agrícolas de las parroquias rurales San Luis y Quimiag del cantón Riobamba provincia de Chimborazo, se aplicaron métodos descriptivos y análisis cuantitativos, para la elaboración de los mapas temáticos se obtuvieron los mapas de órdenes de suelo, texturas de suelo, cultivos predominantes del Sistema Nacional de Información (SNI), se procedió a delimitar las zonas en estudio con la herramienta de Geoprocesamiento (Clip), teniendo como mapa base la cartografía de división política otorgada por el Instituto Geográfico Militar (IGM), que ayudaron a la elaboración de los mapas, posteriormente se procedió a la visita a los Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) para lograr el acercamiento con los presidentes de cada comunidad y proceder a la aplicación de las encuestas a los diferentes agricultores de las parroquias en estudio para identificar los principales cultivos, con la ayuda de un GPS (Global Position System) Garmin se recolectaron los datos de geolocalización de cada cultivo de cada parroquias los cuales fueron transferidos al Software ArcGis 10.4, finalmente con la aplicación de las encuestas a los productores agrícolas se pudo identificar las principales cadenas de comercialización. Los resultados de esta investigación demostraron que la parroquia de San Luis los principales cultivos son hortalizas y el maíz por otro lado en la parroquia Quimiag se destacaron los cultivos de papa, haba y maíz, mientras que los mercados preferidos para ambas parroquias son el mercado mayorista de Riobamba y Ambato y mercados locales Se concluye que los agricultores optan por cultivos de ciclo corto y ciclo largo para mantener ingresos durante todo el año. Se recomienda una evaluación constante de las parroquias en estudio.

This present investigation aimed to generate thematic maps of the main agricultural crops of the rural parishes San Luis and Quimiag belonging to Riobamba canton, province of Chimborazo. Descriptive methods and quantitative analysis were applied, the maps of soil orders, soil textures, predominant crops from the National Information System (NATIS) were obtained for the elaboration of the thematic maps. The study areas were delimited with the Geoprocessing tool (Clip), using as a base map the cartography of political division provided by the Military Geographic Institute (IGM), Afterwards, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) was visited to approach the presidents of each community and make surveys to the different farmers of the parishes under study in order to identify the main crops. Using a Garmin GPS (Global Position System) the geolocation data of each crop in each parish were gathered, which were transferred to the ArcGis 10 software. Finally, by applying surveys to agricultural producers, it was possible to identify the main marketing chains. The results of this investigation showed that the main crops are vegetables and corn in the parish of San Luis, whereas in the parish of Quimiag the main crops are potatoes, beans and corn, and the preferred markets for both parishes are the wholesale markets of Riobamba and Ambato and local markets. A constant evaluation of the parishes under study is recommended.
