Variação do desempenho sexual de carneiros da raça Churra Galega Bragançana ao longo da Primavera

O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido em Bragança, mais concretamente na Quinta de Santa Apolónia pertencente ao Instituto Politécnico de Bragança. O principal objetivo foi estudar o desempenho sexual dos carneiros da raça autóctone portuguesa, churra galega bragançana, durante a primavera de 2019. Para a realização deste trabalho utilizaram-se 6 carneiros da raça churra galega bragançana, com 4 e 7 anos de idade, e avaliou-se a condição corporal, o comportamento sexual, a produção e a qualidade do sémen, e o tamanho dos testículos. Determinou-se o tamanho dos testículos através de um conjunto de medições, escrotal (perímetro escrotal) e testiculares (comprimento, diâmetro e volume testiculares), fez-se análises seminais analisando-se a cor, o aspeto, o cheiro, o pH, o volume, a concentração, e a motilidade, avaliou-se o comportamento sexual, atendendo ao tempo de reação, ao período refratário, á atitude perante a fêmea, e ao número de montas. Os resultados estatísticos demonstram que a condição corporal média e o tamanho médio dos testículos dos carneiros diminuíram ao longo da Primavera, no entanto a quantidade/qualidade do sémen e o comportamento sexual não sofreram alterações significativas ao longo da Primavera.

This work was developed in Braganza more specifically in Quinta de Santa Apolonia belonging to Polytechnic Institute of Braganza. The main objective was to study the Portuguese native breed, Churra Galega Bragançana sexual performance during the spring of 2019. For this work were used six native breed Churra Galega Bragançana 4 and 7 years old rams, the body condition, sexual behavior, semen production and quality and the size of the testicles were evaluated. The size of the testicles was determined from a set of measurements, scrotal (scrotal perimeter) and testicular (testicular length, diameter and volume). Seminal analyzes were made, the color, the aspect, the smell, the pH, the volume, the concentration and motility were analyzed. Given the reaction time, the refractory period, the attitude towards the female and the number of mounts, the sexual behavior was evaluated. Statistical results show that the average body condition and average size of the ram’s testicles decreased over the spring, while the quantity and quality of semen and sexual behavior did not change significantly during the spring.
