Relatório de estágio em coordenação de estudos clínicos no hospital CUF Porto

O presente relatório foi realizado no âmbito do estágio curricular do Mestrado em Gestão da Investigação Clínica. O estágio centrou-se essencialmente na realização de atividades na área de Coordenação de Estudos Clínicos no Hospital CUF Porto, com o objetivo de acompanhar todas as fases de desenvolvimento de um Estudo Clínico em ambiente hospitalar. Este relatório está dividido em dois capítulos. No primeiro capítulo, é apresentado o estado de arte da Investigação em Oncologia e é discutida a sub-representação da população idosa nestes ensaios. O segundo capítulo inicia com uma contextualização da instituição de acolhimento e dos objetivos do estágio, seguindo-se com a descrição das atividades realizadas em Coordenação de Estudos Clínicos. A área terapêutica com maior contacto ao longo do estágio foi Oncologia e as atividades realizadas estão divididas em Ensaios Clínicos e em Estudos Observacionais. O relatório termina com uma discussão, onde é efetuada uma reflexão crítica tanto da pesquisa bibliográfica realizada como do período de estágio, além de se realçar a importância de um Coordenador de Estudos Clínicos na Investigação Clínica. Deste modo, o estágio foi uma experiência enriquecedora, permitindo consolidar conceitos teóricos, desenvolver competências e obter experiência no mundo real de trabalho.

This report was carried out as part of the curricular internship for the Master's Degree in Clinical Research Management. The internship focused on the performance of activities in the area of Coordination of Clinical Studies at the CUF Porto Hospital, with the objective of following all phases of the development of a Clinical Study in a hospital environment. The report is divided into two chapters. In the first chapter, the state of the art of Oncology Research is presented and the under-representation of the elderly population in these trials is discussed. The second chapter begins with a contextualization of the host institution and the objectives of the internship, followed by a description of the activities performed in Clinical Studies Coordination. The therapeutic area with the most contact throughout the internship was Oncology and the activities carried out are divided into Clinical Trials and Observational Studies. This report ends with a discussion, where a critical reflection is made both on the bibliographical research carried out and the internship period, as well as highlighting the importance of a Clinical Study Coordinator in Clinical Research. In this way, the internship was an enriching experience, through the consolidation of theoretical concepts, the development of soft skills and obtaining experience in the real world of work.
