Mammutbäume - eine Option im Klimawandel für die Forstwirtschaft in Deutschland?

Alemán. Bei der Suche nach Alternativbaumarten im Klimawandel werden auch die Mammutbäume genannt. Dabei handelt es sich um drei Arten aus jeweils unterschiedlichen Gattungen. Nach einer Vorstellung der Arten werden Ergebnisse von Versuchen des Thünen-Instituts vorgestellt. Vom Rie-senmammutbaum existiert ein Herkunftsversuch, vom Küstenmammutbaum eine Klonprüfung und vom Urweltmammutbaum Anbauerfahrungen. Durch seine Wuchsleistung stellt sich der Riesenmammutbaum als am erfolgversprechendsten dar. Ein Anbaurisiko ist jedoch das zunehmende Auftreten des Botryosphaeria-Triebspitzensterbens. Beim Küstenmammutbaum wirkt seine geringe Frosttoleranz limitierend und der Urweltmammutbaum benötigt eher gut wasserversorgte Standorte.

Inglés. When looking for alternative tree species in context of climate change, redwoods are also mentioned. There are three species each belonging to separate genera. A short description of the species is followed by the results of experiments by the Thünen Institute. A provenance trial exists with giant sequoia, a clone test with coastal redwood and cultivation experience with the dawn redwood. Due to its growth performance, the giant sequoia is the most promising. A cultivation risk, however, is the increasing incidence of shoot and branch dieback caused by Botryosphaeria. In the case of the coastal redwood, frost hardiness is the limiting factor, while dawn redwood needs sites with a good water supply.
