On May 3, 2004, a facility for transesterification of vegetable oil to biodiesel was opened on the grounds of the agricultural enterprise Barnstädt eG in Nemsdorf near Querfurt (Saxony Anhalt) The facility has a maximum annual capacity of 900 tons and is a novelty in the biodiesel field - with average annual capacities of 500,000 tons. Since the start of operations on May 24, 2004, six months already, it has been shown that own production of biodiesel fuel is an economically interesting variant for farmers.

Mai 2004 wurde auf dem Gelände des Agrarunternehmen Barnstädt e.G. in Nemsdorf bei Querfurt (Sachsen-Anhalt) eine Anlage zur Umesterung von Pflanzenölen zu Biodiesel eingeweiht. Die Anlage hat eine maximale Kapazität von 900 Tonnen pro Jahr und stellt damit in der Biodieselbranche mit Anlagenkapazitäten von durchschnittlich 50000 Jahrestonnen ein Novum dar. Mit der Inbetriebnahme der Anlage am 24. Mai 2004 wird mitlerweile seit einem halben Jahr gezeigt, dass die Eigenproduktion von Kraftstoff in Form von Biodiesel eine wirtschaftlich interessante Variante für Landwirte ist.
