Intensification of the in-situ biomethanation process | Intensification du procédé de biomethanation in-situ

Inglés. Power-to-Gas concept (P2G) converts surplus renewable electricity into hydrogen, which is transformed into methane via biomethanation. This study explores in-situ biomethanation, injecting hydrogen directly into an anaerobic digester, and examines how abiotic parameters affect this process. Three factors are analyzed: organic loading rate from 1.25 to 3.25 g organic matter/L/d, ammonium concentration from 2 to 10 g NH4+-N/L, and substrate composition biochemical composition. Increasing the organic loading rate boosts hydrogen consumption from 39 to 68 mg COD/L/h, while ammonium concentrations above 5 g NH4+-N/L decrease hydrogen uptake from 70 to 15 mg COD/L/h (COD = Chemical Oxygen Demand) and raise volatile fatty acid (VFA) accumulation. Protein-rich substrates lead to more VFA buildup, releasing 2 g NH4+-N/L. These insights improve understanding of microbial dynamics, helping optimize in-situ biomethanation for sustainable energy systems.

Cette étude explore la biométhanation in-situ en injectant l'hydrogène dans un digesteur anaérobie et analyse l'effet des paramètres abiotiques. Trois paramètres sont étudiés : la charge volumétrique appliquée (CVA) (1,25 à 3,25 g de matière organique/L/j), la concentration en ammonium (2 à 10 g NH4+-N/L) et la composition biochimique du substrat. Une CVA accrue améliore la consommation d'hydrogène, mais des concentrations d'ammonium supérieures à 5 g NH4+-N/L réduisent cette consommation et augmentent l'accumulation d'acides gras volatils. Les substrats riches en protéines favorisent également cette accumulation. Ces résultats aident à optimiser la biométhanation in-situ pour des systèmes énergétiques durables.
