Mostrar más [+] Menos [-]Inglés. The present document is a complementary report to the deliverable report on WP3-1. This report which matches exactly the part of the deliverable report about the action 3.1.1 on internal erosion is enriched by a hundred pages of appendices, especially about the many features of erosion which were collected. This comprehensive report describes the general framework of internal erosion before detailing each of the four basic mechanisms that have been identified: backward erosion, concentrated leak erosion, suffusion, contact erosion. For each of these mechanisms, we present a precise description, physical or empirical existing models and the parameters to be determined to use these models. An original representation is available with two matrices to summarize the main features detailed above. A section is then devoted to the methodology for constructing scenarios of embankment failure initiated by these different mechanisms of erosion. Again, a matrix representation has been proposed. The last paragraph describes the methods available for determining the parameters of erosion with an inventory of existing devices at present. Some results on cross-tests from some pilot sites of the project are also reported. Databases on erosion parameters are listed and the main trends regarding the key soil parameters are presented, for cohesive and non cohesive soils. Finally, the appendices complete this report, including many details on all the soil erosion test devices that have been identified.
