Instalación de un tejado verde en el campus de la UMH para mejorar el aprovechamiento del agua de lluvia y aumentar la eficiencia energética del edificio

El aumento continuado de las zonas urbanas, que conlleva la eliminación de cubiertas permeables, está alterando notablemente el ciclo natural del agua. Debido a la baja retención de las superficies artificiales, las precipitaciones de estas zonas son acumuladas formando grandes caudales de aguas de escorrentía, que generan problemas de inundaciones, arrastrando contaminantes acumulados en la superficie y generando problemas de funcionamiento en las depuradoras de aguas residuales. Además, las cubiertas artificiales suelen tener un menor albedo que las naturales, lo que unido al calor generado por las propias actividades antrópicas propicia en un aumento de las temperaturas en la zona, creando el llamado efecto de “isla de calor urbana”. En este TFG se plantea la construcción de un tejado verde en una cubierta del edificio Alcudia del campus de la UMH en Elche. Este tipo de infraestructura verde es una muy interesante solución para mejorar el control del ciclo del agua en entornos urbanos, dado que permite reducir la superficie impermeable, a la par de aportar otros beneficios como un mejor aislamiento térmico del edificio, una mejora de la calidad paisajística o la creación de hábitats en entornos urbanos. Se analizan las diferentes soluciones técnicas y estiman las características fundamentales que debería de presentar un tejado verde adaptado a las condiciones ambientales de la zona.

The continued increase in urban areas, leading to the removal of permeable land covers, is significantly altering the natural water cycle. Due to the low retention of artificial surfaces, rainfall in these areas is accumulated forming large surface runoff flows, which generate flood problems, transporting accumulated pollutants on the surface and generating operating problems in wastewater treatment plants. In addition, artificial roofs tend to have a lower albedo than natural roofs, which together with the heat generated by human activities themselves leads to an increase in temperatures in the area, creating the so-called "urban heat island" effect. In this TFG the construction of a green roof is proposed on a roof of the Alcudia building on the UMH campus in Elche. This type of green infrastructure is a very interesting solution to improve the control of the water cycle in urban environments, since it allows reducing the impervious surface, as well as providing other benefits such as better thermal insulation of the building, an improvement of the landscape quality or creating new habitats within the cities. The different technical solutions are analyzed and the fundamental characteristics that a green roof adapted to the environmental conditions of the area should present.
