Occurrence and distribution patterns of the diseases of goat in Dhaka, Bangladesh

The study was conducted to determine the occurrence and distribution patterns of diseases of goat in Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of January 2018 to December 2018. Materials and Methods: A total of 452 goats were recorded during the study period. The diseases were diagnosed based on clinical signs, patient owners complain and laboratory findings. The prevalence was measured according to season and age of the goats which were studied. Statistical analysis was done by Chi-square test and P-value was calculated by using SPSS 25 for windows (SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL).Results: In this study, 381 (84.29%) goats were found to be diseased from 452 visited goats at Central veterinary Hospital (CVH), Dhaka. The highest prevalence was found with worm infestation (31.42%) followed by PPR (13.72%), miscellaneous (ruminal acidosis, disuria, repeat breeding) (12.16%), pneumonia (10.18%), dermatitis (4.20%), enteritis (3.76%), urolithiasis (3.09%), bloat (2.65%), mastitis (1.55%), tetanus (1.11%) and protozoal diseases (0.44%). Rainy season represented the highest (86.11%) prevalence of goat diseases followed by winter season (82.85%) and summer season (82.44%). PPR was significantly (p<0.05) more prevalent in winter season than other two seasons. In this study, Goats had significantly higher (p<0.01) prevalence of worm infestation in the summer season (29.00%) and the rainy season (39.35%) and in all three (0-12 months, 13-24 months and >24 months) age groups with 21.64%, 45.06%, and 32.20% respectively. Prevalence of mastitis was lowest in 0-12 months (0.43%) and 13-24 months (0.62%) age group but the prevalence of tetanus was lowest in above 24 months (1.69%) age group.These findings will help to know about age-wise and season wise variation of different diseases of goat in this area and will help to execute proper preventive measures against those diseases.

Information on common diseases is important for effective disease control and management programme. This paper aims to identify the common equine parasites infection diagnosed in Peninsular Malaysia using existing laboratory data system records from government veterinary laboratories. Equine data were analysed on the basis of disease diagnoses, states, types of programme, and breed from January 2014 to December 2018. For this purpose, laboratory data from parasitology unit in six (06) Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) laboratories across Peninsular Malaysia were compiled and a total of 7,123 samples sent to the laboratories during the time period were analysed. A total of 623 samples (8.75 %) were positive of 7 different endoparasites, with helminthiasis recording 4.45 % and protozoan infections recording 4.28 %. Monitoring programme recorded second highest number of samples received (33.58 %) but with highest positive samples (6.96 %), while import programmes had the highest number of samples received but with only 0.62 % of the samples were recorded positive. State of Johore (7.97 %) had the highest number of horse positive sample followed by Perlis (0.24 %) and Pahang (0.21 %). Thoroughbred were breed with the highest number of samples received (66.31 %) with 7.28 % were positive. In conclusion, this study provides an idea of prevailing equine common parasite status in Malaysia as per handled in the DVS laboratories, as DVS continues to emphasize horse health by conducting disease screening primarily associated with import and export programmes as well as conducting disease monitoring to ensure sustainability of the industry

In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was determined the therapeutic efficacy of combined application of a complex antibacterial veterinary drug (containing lincomycin and spectinomycin) and Trivitim for the treatment of calves with respiratory diseases. In course of the study of 12 1-1,5 month old calves with respiratory diseases there were analyzed the hematological blood indexes, white blood cell differential and content of total protein in blood serum before the beginning of treatment and on the seventh and fourteenth days after beginning treatment. Research results showed that application the antibacterial veterinary drug in complex therapy with Trivitim in treatment of calves proved to be efficient. Their administration shortened the terms of recovery and prevented animal death as well as promoted the normalization of hematological and biochemical blood indexes.

Results of serological examinations of blood serum of sheep on revelation of virus respiratory infections (parainfluenza-3, adenovirus and respiratory syncytial) realized in the conditions of the Kyrgyz Republic were presented. Research results showed that in farm and peasant farm holdings of all studied districts of the Kyrgyz Republic of three types of pneumo viral infections simultaneously give high levels of antibody titers in relation to parainfluenza-3 – 1:128, adenovirus – 1:32, respiratory syncytial infection – 1:16. In some districts sheep population was diseased only by parainfluenzal infection in relation with titer of specific antibodies 1:256

The article features the data on scientific research of the spread and etiology of bovine dermatophytoses. Work was carried out in 2007-2009 in farm holdings of Minsk and Vitebsk regions of the Republic of Belarus. Principal causes of diseases occurrence are the mechanical traumas caused first of all by infringement of animals maintenance of hygienic norms, also infringement of animals feeding technology. The automicroflora on intact skin has been studied. Realized study helped to determine methods and means of dermatophytoses treatment.

The realized studies of an experimental series of inactivated vaccine showed that the developed biological preparation made it possible to achieve high preventive efficiency in the conditions of cows heavy with calves for the creation in newborn calves the expressing immunity after milk feeding in the first hours of their life. As a result realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus production experiment of emulsified vaccine against rotavirus infection and colibacillosis of cattle in animal breeding farms of different regions of the Republic the prophylactic efficacy of a developed vaccine made up 97,9-98,9%. Research results showed that the developed inactivated vaccine caused at the immunizated animals the formation of specific antibodies at a higher level in comparison with other analyzed national and foreign analogue preparations.

Research results showed that in the conditions of correct organization and application of technological methods of livestock breeding and feeding it was possible to achieve high livability rate of sheep and lambs up to 90%. Also it was possible to get a substantial break of infection chain of many sheep diseases (especially those which had a respiratory nature). Research results showed that simultaneous application of convalescent-phase serum against sheep acute respiratory diseases, as well as Nitox 200 and Invamek for treatment of sheep and especially 2-3 month old lambs with respiratory infectious diseases promoted the recovery of 80-100% of animals.

Analysis of national studies and literary sources on problems of haemophilus pleuropneumoniae of swine was realized in the conditions of the republic of Belarus. Research was realized in the conditions of Agricultural Production Co-operative Uritskoe (Gomel region, Belarus). It was established that medical actions gave positive result only at early stages of disease.
