The treatment of skin wounds with tissue-loss is one of the most important issues in the field of veterinary medicine. It is aimed to improve the wound faster and without contamination by doing various studies in this subject. In this study, laser phototherapy was preferred considering the same target. This study was carried out on 20 cats and 20 dogs of different ages, races, and genders, who were brought to Surgery clinic of Animal Hospital at Kirikkale University. These patients were divided into 4 groups, two of which were study and two of which were a control group. In the study group, 10 cats and 10 dogs were subjected to laser phototherapy, and the rest were routinely performed as a control group. The clinical and laboratory results of the animals treated with phototherapy were compared by routine applications. During the study, a patient follow-up form was created to record data such as physiological parameters of the animals, wound sizes, and clinical recovery process of the wound. Besides, the data were transferred to the computer environment for statistical analysis. Animals that are too aggressive and do not allow the application was treated with laser phototherapy or dressing by applying a routine sedation or anesthesia protocol with the permission of the owner. The wound was taken in follow-up data daily. For 21 days, wound sizes were drawn on transparencies film. Then these measurements were made using the area calculation graph paper. In the obtained clinical data, both infection control and wound closure rates were found to be faster in the study groups than the control groups (P<0,05). In conclusion, low-intensity laser phototherapy has been suggested to be a treatment option, especially in cases of tissue-loss infected skin injuries, which may be an adjunct to classical applications in both cats and dogs.

In the past, horses were used for pulling and riding at agriculture and transportation services. As a result of the increase in mechanization theyhave lost their own importance in these areas, and then they were released into the nature by owners. These wild horses named Yılkı werespending the winter in nature during their first years and then were captured in the spring for using in farm activities. Due to they have notbeen used for this purpose today, the Yılkı population increased. Today, wild horses are living in mainly Karaman (Karadağ), Kayseri (ErciyesMountain), Manisa (Spil and Yunt Mountains), Afyon (Akdağ, Kumalar Mountain, Emirdede Plateau), Samsun (Kızılırmak Basin), Izmir(Gediz Basin), Antalya (Eynif Plain and Beydağlar) provinces, Kaz Mountains and in different regions of Turkey in groups of 15-20 heads.By adapting to wildlife and increasing their number, these wild horses began to pose a threat to other wild animals and agricultural land in theregion due to the food shortage during the heavy winter months. Due to this reason, the studies are being carried out for recording wild horses, making their care and treatments, and reducing the number of horses to the level of capacity of living area. This paper has focused on wildhorses, their regions and some methods used to be kept their numbers under the control.

Red hot pepper, in the science of botany is a plant belonging to the Solanaceae family and known as Capsicum annuum. Capsaicin is the active ingredient in cayenne pepper. Mast cells are cells with intracytoplasmic granules in the connective tissue, showing metachromasia under appropriate conditions. The aim of the study is to observe mast cell localization and tryptase and chymase expression in ovaries of rats administered subcutaneous capsaicin at 1 mg / kg dose during postnatal development periods. Sixty female Spraque-Dawley rats (21 d old) were used. The rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=20 each) as pubertal, post pubertal and adult. Each group was subdivided into two groups. The first subgroup (control) was given no injections. The second subgroup (experiment) received subcutaneous injection of equal volume of capsaicin (1 mg/kg/d) for 7 weeks. Mast cells were observed in the cortex and medulla regions of the ovary during three different developmental periods, giving rise to tryptase and chymase positive reactions. In conclusion, low dose long-term capsaicin administration does not inactivate the presence of mast cells in the ovarian tissue, and the observation of fewer tryptase and chymase immunoreactive cells in the capsaicin-treated experimental groups led us to the conclusion that capsaicin positively affected mast cell heterogeneity in gonads.

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of the parasitic infestation on some hormonal and biochemical values in sheep infected with sarcoptic scabies. In this context, leptin and thyroid hormones which are important in metabolism and some biochemical changes were examined. The study material was selected from sheeps presented to Research and Application Hospital of Veterinary Faculty of Kırıkkale University and divided into two groups. The first group was consisted of sheeps infected with sarcoptic scabies and the second group was selected from healthy sheeps. The blood samples were collected from vena jugularis to serum tubes and they were centrifugated for the separation of the sera. The biochemical measurements were performed on these serum samples to investigate the levels of T3, T4, FT3, FT4 and leptin hormones as well as magnesium, albumin, total protein, uric acid, inorganic phosphate, triglyceride, calcium, creatine kinase and cholesterol. From these parameters, T4, calcium and cholesterol were increased and the FT3 values were decreased in the group of sarcoptic sheeps (p<0.05). Our data suggest that sarcoptic scabies may disturb the balance of thyroid hormone levels and lead to differences in the levels of biochemical parameters.

2019
Yıldız, Fazilet
The term echinococcosis refers to the disease caused by any species of the genus Echinococcus. It is a parasitic disease that has been known since the 17th century and continues to be an important problem to human and animal health as well as economic losses caused by the disease. In livestock, the economic loss caused by organ destruction due to echinococcosis is not the only drawback; the reduction in meat, milk and fleece quality and yield, decreased fertility, and low birth weight should also be taken into account. In humans, the infection causes high economic losses due to hospitalization, loss of labor and diagnostic and therapeutic requirements. Therefore, it is apparent that prevention and control programs should be implemented effectively to prevent or minimize the adverse consequences of echinococcosis, as it is well known that economic losses associated with human health and animal husbandry are immense. In this review, we aimed to contribute to the understanding of the transmission dynamics of Echinococcus species, to present current data on this topic, and to obtain information about the current status of echinococcosis in terms of zoonotic potential.
