The article highlights Kharkiv Breeding Facility, later referred to as Plant Production Institute named after V. Iuryev in 20s-80s concerning breeding the Winter Wheat in Ukraine and impact of the varieties obtained on th productivity increase. It is established that thanks to the efforts of V. Iuryev, V. Didus, M. Ielnikov, A. Shulyndina and others for the period of 1920s-1980s a number of economically valuable varieties have been created – Multrum 120, Iuryivka, Lutetsnes 266, Zenitka, Salut, Kharkivska 1, Kharkivska 32, Khar-kivska 81 and others. Thanks to efforts in breeding the yield index was growing gradually and reached the average level of 4,3 tons per hectare. In particular, in 1921–1930 – 2,33 ton/hectare, 1931–1940 – 2,42, 1941– 1950 – 3,01, 1951–1960 – 26,5, 1961 – 1970 – 4,3, 1971–1980 – 5,05, 1981–1990 – 4,47 t/hectare. In recompense for significant achievements in agricultural crops varieties breeding a breeding center was founded at the facilities of Plant Production Institute named after V Iuryev was founded in 1976.

Crop capacity and productivity elements of winter wheat domestic sorts have been investigated. Valuable sources on the basis of given characteristics for getting selective material of high quality have been singled out. Correlation relations between crop capacity and productivity elements of winter wheat sorts have been established.

The article reflects the progress of genetic decrease of Rye F 3k- 10029/ Saratovske (Саратовське) 4 height by means of the shortest stem plants selection during the period from 1974 to 2010. 37 years selection of the shortest- stern genotypes decreased the plants height from 119.33 cm to 22.57cm. Targeted selection into minus direction decreased the plants height in 5,29 times on the background of the dominant HI expression. In average, the height of plants in the course of 27 breeding cycles were decreasing by 2.69 cm, but that was not going gradually. A new donor Gnom 3 had been created for ultra short-stem trait of the Winter Rye, with the marking of alleles HI-3HI-3. Relative influence on the minus selection efficiency has been established by height of plants for the selection differential (38%) and coefficient of inheritance in narrow sense (14,56%). Realized efficiency of selection in decrease of winter rye height in 72,08% of cases corresponded to predicted hit ration of the breeding. Analyzes of genetic and statistical parameters and correlation clusters of 11 utilitarian average characteristics of ultra short- stem rye Gnom 3 for the period of 1974 to 2010 has been performed.

Tere are discussed results of joint Bukovino-moldavian corn breeding programmer, as a result which are created two registered hybrids, one perspective, and new material for the further work.

The article explains meaning of successive introduction of plants followed by their integration into cultivation, and scientifically grounded development of national varietal sources from the diversity of plants taking into account methodological aspects of practical application of botanical semantic, classification and binary nomenclature of botanical taxa. It also shows scientific aspects of systematic units differentiation caused by relevant Latin names of botanical taxa, which are to facilitate harmonization of UPOV membertates cooperation in the protection of rights of intellectual property on breeding achievements – plant varieties.

The results of studying of walnuts collection have been given; the evaluation of the assortment according to resistance to unfavorable climatic conditions has been done; some varieties have been recommended for using in breeding and introduction in industry.

The results of first varietal study of 7 new genotypes of Prunus cerasifera Ehrh., bred in Nikitsky Botanical Gardens, with male sterility and one similar introduced variety 'Puntsovy' have been given. The value and defects have been marked. Their practical use in selection work and in nurseries has been suggested.

Proposed system approach for freezing tolerance estimate of breeding material of winter wheat allows to differentiate the samples by physiological properties of resistance to low temperatures and based on to carry out selecting parents for hybridization in changeable environments of global warming.

The possibilities of utilizing testers different genetical structure are considered. The peculiarities of testers productivity formation are ascertained. The dynamics of influence inbreed lines, testers and one's interaction on hybrids productivity are investigated. The peculiarities of hybrids productivity formation depending on utilizing testers and one's combining are indicated.

It has been supposed to carry out bred-making valuation of wheat under native condition of protein substances and contents of the dough improvers (КВrO3, С6Н8О6) being practiced. It will allow both at present and in the future to carry out comparative valuation by this index between varieties of various breeding progenies.
