Урожайність і стабільність нових середньостиглих сортів картоплі (Solanum tuberosum L.) у лісостеповій та поліській ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах України | Yield and Stability of New Medium-Maturing Potato Varieties (Solanum tuberosum L.) in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia Soil and Climatic Zones of Ukraine

Мета. Здійснити комплексне вивчення та оцінювання нових середньостиглих сортів картоплі (S. tuberosum) за врожайністю, вмістом крохмалю та їхньою стабільністю в умовах Лісостепу й Полісся України. Методи. Кваліфікаційну експертизу сортів картоплі на придатність до поширення в Україні (ПСП) проводили у 2021 та 2023 рр. у восьми пунктах досліджень Українського інституту експертизи сортів рослин, розташованих в межах ґрунтово-кліматичних зон Лісостепу та Полісся. Площа облікової ділянки становила 25 м2, розміщення ділянок рендомізоване, повторність чотириразова. Результати. Проаналізовано господарсько-цінні ознаки середньостиглих сортів картоплі української – ‘Фанатка’, ‘Світана’, ‘Марфуша’ й ‘Меланія’, а також іноземної селекції – ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ й ‘CARDYMA’. Так, середня врожайність ‘Фанатки’, ‘Світани’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ та ‘CARDYMA’ в Лісостепу виявилася на 3–12% вищою, ніж на Поліссі. Максимальні значення цього показника в обох ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах продемонстрували сорти ‘Світана’ (Лісостеп – 28,2 т/га; Полісся – 26,0 т/га) та ‘CAMELIA’ (Лісостеп – 29,3 т/га; Полісся – 27,7 т/га). 2021 року вищу середню врожайність картоплі отримано в лісостеповій зоні (23,3 т/га); 2023-го – в поліській (21,1 т/га). Сорти ‘Фанатка’ та ‘TRIPLE7’ виявилися більш стабільними, ніж ‘Світана’, ‘Меланія’, ‘CAMELIA’, ‘CARDYMA’, ‘Марфуша’ і ‘Tiger’, врожаї яких значно залежали від умов вирощування. За показниками якості найліпшими були представники іноземної селекції ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’ та ‘CARDYMA’. Вміст крохмалю в них становив 15,6–17,8% у Лісостепу та 17,1–18,1% на Поліссі; сухої речовини – 23,9–25,8% у Лісостепу та 25,4–25,8% на Поліссі. Висновки. За результатами кваліфікаційної експертизи на ПСП сорти ‘Фанатка’, ‘Світана’, ‘Меланія’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘CAMELIA’ та ‘CARDYMA’ рекомендовано для вирощування в лісостеповій і поліській зонах; ‘Марфуша’ та ‘Tiger’ – лише поліській. За якісними показниками вирізнився сорт ‘TRIPLE7’ зі вмістом крохмалю 17,8% у Лісостепу та 18,1% на Поліссі; сухої речовини – по 25,8% в обох ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах. | Purpose. To carry out a comprehensive study and evaluation of new medium-maturing potato (S. tuberosum) varieties for yield, starch content and stability under the conditions of the Ukrainian Forest Steppe and Polissia. Methods. The qualification examination of potato varieties for their suitability for distribution in Ukraine (VSD) was conducted in 2021 and 2023 at eight research sites of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination located within the soil and climatic zones of the Forest-Steppe and Polissia. The area of the accounting plot was 25 m2, the location of the plots was randomised, replicated four times. Results. The economic and valuable characteristics of Ukrainian medium-maturing potato varieties – ‘Fanatka’, ‘Svitana’, ‘Marfusha’ and ‘Melaniia’, as well as foreign varieties – ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ and ‘CARDYMA’ were analysed. The average yield of ‘Fanatka’, ‘Svitana’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ and ‘CARDYMA’ in the Forest-Steppe was 3–12% higher than in Polissia. The maximum values of this indicator in both soil and climatic zones were shown by the varieties ‘Svitana’ (Forest-Steppe – 28.2 t/ha; Polissia – 26.0 t/ha) and ‘CAMELIA’ (Forest-Steppe – 29.3 t/ha; Polissia – 27.7 t/ha). In 2021, the highest average potato yield was obtained in the Forest-Steppe zone (23.3 t/ha); in 2023, in Polissia (21.1 t/ha). ‘Fanatka’ and ‘TRIPLE7’ varieties were more stable than ‘Svitana’, ‘Melaniia’, ‘CAMELIA’, ‘CARDYMA’, ‘Marfusha’ and ‘Tiger’, whose yields were highly dependent on the growing conditions. In terms of quality indicators, the best foreign varieties were ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’ and ‘CARDYMA’. Their starch content was 15.6–17.8% in the Forest-Steppe and 17.1–18.1% in Polissia; dry matter – 23.9–25.8% in the Forest-Steppe and 25.4–25.8% in Polissia. Conclusions. According to the results of the VSD qualification test, the varieties ‘Fanatka’, ‘Svitana’, ‘Melaniia’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘CAMELIA’ and ‘CARDYMA’ are recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia zones; ‘Marfusha’ and ‘Tiger’ are recommended for Polissia only. According to qualitative indicators, the variety ‘TRIPLE7’ stood out with starch content of 17.8% in Forest-Steppe and 18.1% in Polissia; dry matter – 25.8% in both soil and climatic zones.

Purpose. To determine the content of biochemical compounds in fruits of M. domestica Borkh. varietal samples, select the most promising ones for use in further breeding, and recommend for use in various directions, given the biochemical complex of signs, taste and marketability of the fruit. Methods. We used generally accepted methods for determining the biochemical composition of fruits (soluble solids (SSR) according to GOST (State Standard System) 29030-91, total sugars according to GOST 8756-13.87; polyphenol composition according to the method of L. I. Vigorov (1968), vitamin C according to the method of A I. Ermakov (1972); titrated acids – according to GOST 25555.0-82). Results. Nine cultivars of apple trees were analyzed for the biochemical composition of fruits, namely the apple tree cultivar ‘Vydubytska Plakucha’ (‘V. p.’) and various hybrids created on its basis from the collection of the fruit plant acclimatization department of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Gardens of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Selected forms are sources of 1–5 important biochemical characteristics (solids content, glucose, sugars, ascorbic acid, titratable acid) and promising for use in breeding. According to the dry matter content – the lowest rate was found in hybrid ‘V. p.’ × ‘Renet Symyrenko’ (16.68%), the highest in the hybrid – ‘V. p.’ × ‘Renet Oranzhevyi Coksa’ (22.87%), rates of ascorbic acid content varied within (6.0–12.25 mg%), total sugars (10.37–18.23), acids (0.74–1,67 respectively). The most interesting for introduction and breeding are hybrids with a high content of biochemical parameters, namely: ‘V. p.’ × ‘Renet Oranzhevyi Coksa’, ‘V. p.’ × ‘Golden Delicious’ and ‘V. p.’ × ‘Parmen Zymovyi Zolotyi’. Conclusions. The content of the biochemical composition of the fruits, taste and marketability were characterized, and varietal samples of hybrids of the apple tree ‘Vydubytska Plakucha’ were distributed in the directions of use in order to improve the quality of life of the population. According to the biochemical indicators of the cluster analysis of the studied apple hybrids, close relationships were found between the three groups necessary in the future for breeding when selecting parental forms for an improved biochemical composition of the fruit (including hybrids ‘V. p.’ × ‘Renet Oranzhevyi Coksa’, ‘V. p.’ × ‘Golden Delicious’ and ‘V. p.’ × ‘Parmen Zymovyi Zolotyi’, titrated acid hybrids ‘V. p.’ × ‘Starkrimson’, ‘V. p.’ × ‘Parmen Zymovyi Zolotyi’ and ‘V. p.’ × ‘Renet Symyrenko’, tannins hybrids ‘V. p.’ × ‘Slava Peremozhtsiam’ and ‘V. p.’ × ‘Starkrimson’); and to expand the assortment of apple trees according to the planned commercial signs. Hybrids of the apple-tree cultivar ‘Vydubytska Plakucha’, created in the NBG using old and valuable modern apple-tree cultivars, indicate the promise of producing high-yielding, large-fruited varieties with a high content of biologically active substances

Yield of modern varieties of valuable fodder crop lucerne is quite low - 0.2 - 0.3 t / ha. The reason - lack of cross-pollination due to the lack of insect pollinators. Under these conditions, the highest seed production plants are prone to selfpollinate. The results of the study of 26 new selffertile samples of alfalfa own selection. It was shown that 15 samples for seed yield higher than standard - grade Jaroslavna. The herbage yield of only four samples was lower than in the standard. The dry matter content of all samples was high - 22,1-25,5 %. The results obtained are allowed to select in hotbed of pre-strain testing samples with high levels of self-fertility, seed yield 0,24-0,29 t/ha, herbage for three mowing - 63,2-67,7 t/ha, high dry matters content, which will be used in future breeding process

The example of various varieties and hybrids of sugar sorghum illustrates the summary of study on assessing varying density of plants in crops on phonological characteristics of sugar sorghum plants, carbohydrate composition of sorghum juice and yield of its plants. The completed study established that one hectare of sugar sorghum, subject to varietal characteristics and varying density of plants in crop, may provide the green weight of 40.83 до 106.87 t/ha at stem juice yield of 22,27 to 56,24 t/ha, which would contain 2.31 to 6.09 t/ha of total sugars suitable for bioethanol production in at the rate of 198.25 to 501.19 dal/ha. However, despite of higher estimate of total sugars yield and bioethanol at 300 thousand plants per ha density in crop, industrial plots would preferably have plant density in crops ranging within 200...250 thousand pieces per ha. Since higher density increases dry matter content of plants, consequentially, cellulose and lignin in stems, this may create preconditions for harvest losses due to stem lod ging Besides, 200 thousand plants per hectare enables to reach the highest level of photosynthesis net productivity which combines high intensity of the photosynthesis with photosynthetic activity of leaf surface.

The article presents summary of studying the efficiency of dry carrot production when growing in the conditions of Ukraine’s Forest-Steppe subject to a variety. A complex assessment has been completed for fresh and dried products of 10 different varieties and hybrids of carrots on the content of basic biochemical, economic and biological indicators in order to highlight the best suited for drying. Varieties have been singled out, which roots display the highest yield, best marketability, accumulate the most of dry matter, sugars, etc. A close direct correlation between the weight of roots and their marketability has been established. An evaluation of the tested roots for complex organoleptic characteristics has been completed. It is proved that carrot drying is profitable. The yield and dry matter content in roots are key influence factors on profitability of dry carrot production. By the set of parameters under studying varieties most suitable for drying, Krasniy Velikan and Dlinnaia Krasnaia, have been selected. Profitability of their drying exceeds 40%.

Purpose. Development of scientific and applied foundations for the introduction, selection and use of plants of the species of the genus Physalis L. to ensure food security in Ukraine. Methods. Subject of study – plants of the genus Physalis. The study was conducted in 2014–2018. on the introduction plots of the department of cultural flora of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden, NAS of Ukraine (NBG). The work used general scientific and special methods: field, introduction, biological and morphological; laboratory (chemical, biochemical), statistical (methods of analysis of variance and statistical estimation of average data using Microsoft Excel (2010). Results. The features of ontomorphogenesis were established, the biological and morphological parameters of plants of the species of the genus Physalis L. were investigated under conditions of introduction in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe Ukraine. It was found that the content of dry matter in plant fruits varied from 10 to 18.34%, sugars – from 39.34 to 67.97%, tannins – 1.57 to 3.35% and carotene – from 0.200 to 0.583%, ascorbic acid – from 123.91 to 284.95 mg/100 g, depending on the species, varietal and shape characteristics. Conclusions. It was found that the introduced plant species of the genus Physalis in conditions of culture have four age periods and 10 developmental states: seeds (se), sprouts (p), juvenile (j), immature (im), virginal (v), generative (g), subsenilny (ss) and senile (se). Ph. ixocarpa ‘Likhtaryk’ of the NBG selection was distinguished among the studied introduced species in terms of biological and morphological parameters and biochemical composition. The obtained data can be used for further research and determining the prospects for the introduction of these introduced species into a wide culture

Purpose. To reveal the features of the formation of sugar beet hybrids productivity depending on fertilizer options and harvesting time. Methods. Field, laboratory. Results. Biological differences in the growth and development and the mass of root crops formation allowed high yielding hybrids to respond to the use of supplemental mineral nutrition properly, and therefore, high productivity rates were also obtained on fertilized variants. When harvesting root crops in September, the ‘Romul’ hybrid in the control variant formed 54.0 t/ha of root crops, and with fertilizer N150P150K150 and N300P300K300 – 74.2 t/ha. The delay in harvesting did not lead to a significant increase in the productivity of the investigated sugar beet hybrids. Thus, in the third decade of October, sugar beets on average formed 48.8–67.9 t/ha of root crops, and root crops had an average of 18.3–20.7% sugar. The best performance was provided by the hybrid ‘Sofiia’, so the control sugar content was 22.0%, and with the fertilizer N150P150K150 – 20.5% and N300P300K300 – 19.5%. The use of fertilizers N150P150K150 and N300P300K300 contributed to higher yields of root crops with lower sugar content, which corresponded to data obtained by other scientists. Conclusions. When harvesting in the third decade of September and being fertilized with N150P150K150, hybrids formed: ‘BTsChS 57’ – 66.8, ‘Heroi’ – 66.2, ‘Romul’ – 72.0, ‘Quarta’ – 66.0 t/ha of root crops, with fertilizer in a dose of N300P300K300 – 68.8; 68.1; 74.2 and 68.0 t/ha, respectively. It was proved that at the harvesting period in the third decade of October, ‘BTsChS 57’, ‘Heroi’, ‘Sofiia’ and ‘Romul’ were the best. In addition, the introduction of the mineral nutrition in dose N300P300K300 did not provide a yield increase that could recoup additional mineral nutrition compared to the dose N150P150K150. In terms of sugar content of the sugar beet root crops, the hybrids ‘Heroi’ – 21.4%, ‘Sofiia’ – 21.8%, ‘Ukrainskyi ChS72’ – 21.3% and ‘Romul’ – 21.4% were the best at harvesting in the third decade of September; and in the third decade of October the maximum level of sugar content in root crops was in hybrids ‘Sofiia’ – 22.0% and ‘Umanskyi’ – 21.9%. The use of mineral fertilizers led to a decrease in the sugar content in roots by about 1.3–2.5% compared with unfertilized control options. Such a reaction of plants is caused by a sufficient level of soil supply with mineral nutrition compounds.

Мета. Установити особливості формування продуктивності гібридів буряків цукрових залежно від варіантів удобрення та строків збирання.Методи. Польові, лабораторні.Результати. Біологічні відмінності в рості та розвитку і формуванні маси коренеплодів дозволили високопродуктивним гібридам реагувати на застосування додаткового мінерального живлення належним чином, а тому на удобрених варіантах були також отримані високі показники продуктивності. Встановлено, що за збирання коренеплодів в вересні гібрид ‘Ромул’ на контрольному варіанті формував 54,0 т/га коренеплодів, а за удобрення N150P150K150 – 72,0 т/га та N300P300K300 – 74,2 т/га. Затримка зі збиранням не призвела до суттєвого зростання рівня продуктивності досліджуваних нами гібридів буряків цукрових. Так, за п’ятого строку збирання, що припадає на третю декаду жовтня буряки цукрові в середньому формували 48,8–67,9 т/га коренеплодів. За збирання буряків цукрових в третю декада жовтня в коренеплодах в середньому було 18,3–20,7% цукру, а от найкращі параметри забезпечував гібрид ‘Софія’, так, на контролі цукристість була 22,0%, а за удобрення N150P150K150 – 20,5% та N300P300K300 – 19,5%. Застосування удобрення N150P150K150 та N300P300K300 сприяло отриманню більшої урожайності коренеплодів за їх меншої цукристості, що відповідає даним отриманих іншими вченими.Висновки. За збирання в третій декаді вересня, та за удобрення N150P150K150 гібриди формували відповідно ‘БЦЧС 57’ 66,8, ‘Герой’ 66,2, ‘Ромул’ 72,0, ‘Кварта’66,0 т/га коренеплодів, а за удобрення в дозі N300P300K300 – 68,8; 68,1; 74,2 та 68,0 т/га. Досліджено, що за збирання в третій декаді жовтня кращими були ‘БЦЧС 57’, ‘Герой’, ‘Софія’ та ‘Ромул’. Крім того, внесення норми мінерального живлення N300P300K300 не забезпечувала формування прибавки врожаю здатної окупити додаткове мінеральне живлення, порівняно з нормою N150P150K150. За вмістом цукру в коренеплодах буряків цукрових за збирання в третій декаді вересня кращими були наступні гібриди: ‘Герой’ – 21,4%, ‘Софія’ – 21,8%, ‘Український ЧС72’ – 21,3% та ‘Ромул’ 21,4%, а в третю декаду жовтня максимальний рівень вмісту цукру в коренеплодах був в гібридів: ‘Софія’ – 22,0% та ‘Уманський’ 21,9%. Застосування мінерального удобрення призводило до зменшення цукристості коренеплодів приблизно на 1,3–2,5% порівняно з неудобреними контрольними варіантами. Така реакція рослин викликана власне достатнім рівнем забезпечення ґрунту сполуками мінерального живлення. | Purpose. Установлено, что за уборки корнеплодов в сентябре гибрид ‘Ромул’ на контрольном варианте формировал 54,0 т/га корнеплодов, а за удобрения N150P150K150 – 72,0 т/га и N300P300K300 – 74,2 т/га. Задержка с уборкой не привела к существенному увеличению уровня продуктивности исследуемых нами гибридов сахарной свеклы. Так, на третью декаду октября сахарная свекла в среднем формировала 48,8–67,9 т/га корнеплодов, а в корнеплодах в среднем было 18,3–20,7% сахара. Лучшие параметры обеспечивал гибрид ‘София’, так, на контроле сахаристость была 22,0%, а за удобрения N150P150K150 – 20,5% и N300P300K300 – 19,5%. Применение удобрения N150P150K150 и N300P300K300 способствовало получению большей урожайности корнеплодов с их меньшей сахаристости, что соответствует данным полученных другими учеными.Выводы. При уборке в третьей декаде сентября и при удобрении N150P150K150 гибриды формировали: ‘БЦЧС 57’ – 66,8, ‘Герой’ – 66,2, ‘Ромул’ – 72,0, ‘Кварта’ – 66,0 т/га корнеплодов, при удобрении в дозе N300P300K300 – 68,8; 68,1; 74,2 и 68,0 т/га соответственно. Доказано, что при сборе в третьей декаде октября лучшими были ‘БЦЧС 57’, ‘Герой’, ‘Софія’ и ‘Ромул’. Кроме того, внесение нормы минерального питания N300P300K300 не обеспечивало формирование прибавки урожая, способной окупить дополнительное минеральное питание по сравнению с нормой N150P150K150. По содержанию сахара в корнеплодах сахарной свеклы при уборке в третьей декаде сентября лучшими были следующие гибриды: ‘Герой’ – 21,4%, ‘Софія’ – 21,8%, ‘Український ЧС72’ – 21,3% и ‘Ромул’ – 21,4%, а в третьей декаде октября максимальный уровень содержания сахара в корнеплодах был у гибридов: ‘Софія’ – 22,0% и ‘Уманський’ – 21,9%. Применение минерального удобрения приводило к уменьшению сахаристости корнеплодов примерно на 1,3–2,5% по сравнению с неудобренными контрольными вариантами. Такая реакция растений вызвана достаточным уровнем обеспечения почвы соединениями минерального питания.

Purpose. To conduct a comprehensive agrobiological assessment of broccoli hybrids Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) Alef. var. сymosa Duch. in terms of the key agronomic traits under the conditions of the Western Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. The object of the study was the following foreign broccoli hybrids: ‘Lucky F1’ (reference), ‘Batavia F1’, ‘Belstar F1’, ‘Monaco F1’, and ‘Rumba F1’. Phenological observations, biometric measurements, and records were conducted in accordance with the Methodology of Experiments in Vegetable and Melons (2001). Results. On average over the years of research, the highest yield was obtained from hybrids ‘Monaco F1’ (41.2 t/ha) and ‘Rumba F1’ (38.0 t/ha). A slightly lower yield was in ‘Belstar F1’ (32.3 t/ha) and ‘Batavia F1’ (29.6 t/ha). In general, all hybrids under investigation provided a significant yield increase (6.3–17.9 t/ha) compared to reference ‘Lucky F1’ (23.3 t/ha). The largest diameter of the main head was recorded in the hybrids ‘Rumba F1’ (19.7 cm), ‘Monaco F1’ (20.5 cm) and the smallest in ‘Lucky F1’ (14.3 cm). The weight of the main head of all hybrids was significantly higher than that of reference (295 g): ‘Batavia F1’ 451 g, ‘Belstar F1’ 477 g, ‘Rumba F1’ 514 g, and ‘Monaco F1’ 542 g. The weight of the side heads of the broccoli ranged from 328 g (‘Lucky F1’) to 807 g (‘Monaco F1’). The highest biochemical indicators of commodity product were provided by hybrids ‘Rumba F1’ and ‘Monaco F1’: the total dry matter content was 11.3 and 11.6%, soluble solids 6.4 and 6.7%, sugars 3.5 and 3.8%, and vitamin C 89.3 and 98.7 mg/100 g, respectively. Conclusions. Under the conditions of the Western Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, it is recommended to grow new foreign broccoli hybrids ‘Rumba F1’ and ‘Monaco F1’, which ensure high yield and quality of commodity product. According to the results of the agrobiological assessment, a typical model of broccoli variety is proposed, which may serve as a project for the development of the evaluation form for ability indicators of Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) Alef. var. сymosa Duch. for distribution inUkraine.

Purpose. Determine a number of morphometric and biochemical parameters of various genotypes of Bunias orientalis L. in the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine (NBG). Methods. Plant samples of B. orientalis (6 genotypes created in the NBG) were examined during the flowering stage. Determination of dry matter, ash, calcium was carried out according to Hrytsaienko et al. (2003), phosphorus according to Pochinok (1976), sugars, ascorbic acid and lipids were determined according to Krishchenko (1983), b-carotene according to Pleshkov (1985). The energy value of plants was determined using an IKA C-200 calorimeter. The obtained results were analysed statistically. Results. The height of plants varied from 140.9 (Genotype 1) to 157.5 (Genotype 5) cm, stem diameter from 11.67 (Genotype 1) to 16.1 (Genotype 6) mm, the number of internodes from 18.7 (Genotype 1) to 25.7 (Genotype 6), the number of leaves on a stem from 14.11 (Genotype 1) to 21.8 (Genotype 5), leaf lamina length from 14.2 (Genotype 1) to 23.45 (Genotype 6) cm, leaf lamina width from 6.34 (Genotype 1) to 14.5 (Genotype 4) cm, inflorescence length from 27.4 (Genotype 1) to 45.4 (Genotype 3) cm, inflorescence width from 2.32 (Genotype 1) to 4.92 (Genotype 3) cm, and the number of stems from 2.55 (Genotype 2) to 5.33 (Genotype 1). The study of the content of structural and functional compounds and nutrients at the flowering stage showed that the dry matter content was in the range of 13.58–16.00%, sugars 5.07–8.86%, titratable acidity 3.28–4.25%, lipids 3.33–6.61%, ascorbic acid 382.83–693.82 mg%, b-carotene 0.94–3.48 mg%, ash 6.79–9.2%, calcium 1.00–2.44%, phosphorus 1.61–2.67% and energy value 3337.0–3498.0 cal/g. Conclusions. It was revealed that samples of various genotypes of B. orientalis are a valuable source of nutrients at the flowering stage. The biochemical composition of plants depended on the genotype and stage of growth. Results of the morphometric study showed variability of investigated parameters. The obtained data can be used to predict and evaluate the results of introduction and breeding studies with B. orientalis genotypes as promising crops in Ukraine.
