The article presents summary of the research of inheritance issues, as well as permanency and polylithism of soft wheat plants, and utilization of the above trait for identification of genotypes in the course of DUS examination of varieties. Relation of height of plants to their resistance to lodging and crops productivity has been studied. Expediency has been grounded for setting respective agro- ecological conditions enabling the plant height to fall within the limits of genetically conditioned optimum for every variety.

Stabilizing (centripetal) breeding produced donor of short stem characteristic for winter rye (Secale cereale L.) with height of plants ranging from cm 50 to 60. Distribution curve of plant's height remained symmetric with cummulation of frequencies at central classes (leptokurtic). For the first time, designation for new allele of short-stem gene HI-2HI-2 and donor name Gnome 2 was suggested. Gnome 2 was found to have direct genetic correlation of plant height with number of flowers in the ear, length of the ear, weight of 100 seeds from the plant, as well as reverse correlation with ear density and weight of kernels from the ear.

The author has reserched the resistance of scab-immune apple cultivarsbelonging to different ecological and geographical groups to unfavorable water regime conditions and temperature stressors in summer. The comparative studies of their drought and heat-resistance have been carried out. According to the complex of the water regime idexes the cvs "Orlovskoye Polyesye", "Florina", "Imant", "Amulet" and "Vitos" have been seleted as the most drought-adapted and higt heat-resistant.

Цель. Провести комплексную агробиологическую оценку гибридов капусты брокколи Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) Alef. var. сymosa Duch. по основным хозяйственно-ценным показателям в условиях Западной Лесостепи Украины.Методы. Объектом исследования были гибриды капусты брокколи иностранной селекции: ‘Lucky F1’ (контроль), ‘Batavia F1’, ‘Belstar F1’, ‘Monaco F1’ и ‘Rumba F1’. Фенологические наблюдения, биометрические измерения и учеты проводили в соответствии с Методикой исследовательской дела в овощеводстве и бахчеводства (2001). Результаты. В среднем за годы исследований наивысшую товарную урожайность головок формировали гибриды ‘Monaco F1’ (41,2 т/га) и ‘Rumba F1’ (38,0 т/га). Несколько ниже она была в ‘Belstar F1’ и ‘Batavia F1’ – 32,3 и 29,6 т/га соответственно. В общем же все исследуемые гибриды обеспечили существенный прирост урожайности (6,3–17,9 т/га) по сравнению с контрольным вариантом (‘Lucky F1’ – 23,3 т/га). Наибольший диаметр центральной головки зафиксирован у гибридов ‘Rumba F1’ и ‘Monaco F1’ – 19,7 и 20,5 см, наименьший у ‘Lucky F1’ – 14,3 см. Масса центральной головки у всех гибридов была значительно выше показателя контроля (295 г): ‘Batavia F1’ – 451 г, ‘Belstar F1’ – 477, ‘Rumba F1’ – 514, ‘Monaco F1’ – 542 г. Масса боковых головок в зависимости от гибрида колебалась от 328 г (‘Lucky F1’) до 807 г (‘Monaco F1’). Самые высокие биохимические показатели товарной продукции обеспечили гибриды ‘Rumba F1’ и ‘Monaco F1’: содержание общего сухого вещества составило 11,3 и 11,6%, растворимых сухих веществ – 6,4 и 6,7%, сахаров – 3,5 и 3,8% и витамина С – 89,3 и 98,7 мг/100 г соответственно. Выводы. В условиях Западной Лесостепи Украины рекомендуется выращивать новые гибриды капусты брокколи иностранной селекции ‘Rumba F1’ и ‘Monaco F1’, которые обеспечивают формирование высоких показателей как урожайности, так и качества товарной продукции. По результатам агробиологической оценки предложено типичную модель сорта капусты брокколи, которая может служить проектом для разработки соответствующих бланков показателей пригодности сортов Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) The largest diameter of the main head was recorded in the hybrids ‘Rumba F1’ (19.7 cm), ‘Monaco F1’ (20.5 cm) and the smallest in ‘Lucky F1’ (14.3 cm). The weight of the main head of all hybrids was significantly higher than that of reference (295 g): ‘Batavia F1’ 451 g, ‘Belstar F1’ 477 g, ‘Rumba F1’ 514 g, and ‘Monaco F1’ 542 g. The weight of the side heads of the broccoli ranged from 328 g (‘Lucky F1’) to 807 g (‘Monaco F1’). The highest biochemical indicators of commodity product were provided by hybrids ‘Rumba F1’ and ‘Monaco F1’: the total dry matter content was 11.3 and 11.6%, soluble solids 6.4 and 6.7%, sugars 3.5 and 3.8%, and vitamin C 89.3 and 98.7 mg/100 g, respectively.Conclusions. Under the conditions of the Western Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, it is recommended to grow new foreign broccoli hybrids ‘Rumba F1’ and ‘Monaco F1’, which ensure high yield and quality of commodity product. According to the results of the agrobiological assessment, a typical model of broccoli variety is proposed, which may serve as a project for the development of the evaluation form for ability indicators of Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) За результатами агробіологічного оцінювання запропоновано типову модель сорту капусти броколі, яка може слугувати проектом для розроблення відповідних бланків показників придатності сортів Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) Alef. var. сymosa Duch. для поширення на території України.

На основі генетично статистичних параметрів сформовано групу з кращих генотипів для подальшого селекційного опрацювання. Популяції У 1948-Z та У 752-E придатні для рекурентної селекції на покращання технологічної якості сировини.

Phytopathogenic fungi in the order Diaporthales (Sordariomycetes) cause diseases on numerous economically important crops worldwide. In this study, we reassessed the diaporthalean species associated with prominent diseases of strawberry, namely leaf blight, leaf blotch, root rot and petiole blight, based on molecular data and morphological characters using fresh and herbarium collections. Combined analyses of four nuclear loci, 28S ribosomal DNA/large subunit rDNA (LSU), ribosomal internal transcribed spacers 1 and 2 with 5.8S ribosomal DNA (ITS), and partial sequences of second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB2) and translation elongation factor 1-a (TEF1), were used to reconstruct a phylogeny for these pathogens. Results confirmed that the leaf blight pathogen formerly known as Phomopsis obscurans belongs in the family Melanconiellaceae and is not congeneric with Diaporthe (syn. Phomopsis). A new genus Paraphomopsis is introduced herein with a new combination, Paraphomopsis obscurans, to accommodate the leaf blight fungus. Gnomoniopsis fragariae comb. nov. (Gnomoniaceae), is introduced to accommodate Gnomoniopsis fructicola, the cause of leaf blotch of strawberry. Fresh collections and new molecular data were incorporated for the recently typified species, Paragnomia fragariae (Sydowiellace), which causes petiole blight and root rot of Fragaria spp. and is distinct from the above taxa. An updated multi-locus phylogeny for the Diaporthales is provided to place and distinguish the leaf blight and leaf blotch pathogen, as well as the species associated with petiole blight and root rot of strawberry.
