Presence of Aflatoxin M1 in Cube Cheeses Produced in Sivas Region

In this study, the presence and residue levels of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) were investigated in traditionally produced cube cheeses in Sivas and its region. For this purpose, 90 pieces of cube cheese were used as a material. Cheese samples were collected periodically in November and December 2016 from central sales location and surrounding villages. ELISA technique was applied in aflatoxin analyses. According to the analysis results, AFM1 was detected in total of the cube cheeses. The lowest level of AFM1 was found to be 2.16 ng/kg, the highest was 53.94 ng/kg and the mean was 6.36±0.87 ng/kg. AFM1 level vas determined one cheese sample above to the limit set by European Union.

Enterococcus species with lipolytic and proteolytic properties can pass directly from animal faeces or indirectly from contaminated water, equipment or storage tanks into milk. The present study focused on isolation and identification of Enterococcus species and to determine the microbiological characteristics of traditionally produced civil cheese. TMAB, Coliform, Enterococus and yeast-mold counts of 40 civil cheese samples made by traditional method were determined. In addition, Enterococus species was isolated and identified with Vitek2 compact system. total mesophilic aerobic bacteria counts were 8.22 log cfu/g; the number of the number of Enterococci were 5.77 log cfu/g, Coliform bacteria count were of 4.18 log cfu/ g and the number of yeast and mould were 6.35 log cfu/g. It was determined that the isolated 75 Enterococcus strains consisted of 33 Enterococcus faecalis, 23 Enterococcus durans, 12 Enterococcus faecium and 6 Enterococcus gallinarum and 1 Enterococcus avium. As a result, because of the production of fresh civil cheese under unhygienic conditions, its microbiological quality is low. This situation poses a potential health hazard to consumers.

Turkish geography in terms of socio-economic and socio-cultural aspects, are miniatures of Turkish civilization. We see that the culture of “imece” has come into play as an example of solidarity in rural areas, which constitute the cornerstone of Turkish geography and where the power of the state cannot reach. “Imece which is defined as “the gathering of many people and performing the work of a person or a community together and thus finishing the works in order”; It partially complies with the applications in the Anatolian geography. Some definitions will be made without examining the site; The culture of the “salma-salvage” function, which is defined as “collecting money from every house by the decision of the elderly committee to see the works in the villages”, is mixed with the solidarity of imam. As there is no coercion in the living “imece” culture, it is usually a collaboration based on voluntary aid to the person who feels the need. On the other hand, “Cooperatives” emerged as a search for solidarity and mutual aid in order to solve the problems arising from the livelihoods and working conditions of the working class after the French revolution and spread to all countries of the World. The first cooperative in the field of consumption was founded by 28 weaving workers in England as “Rochdale pioneers” in 1844 and applied the basic rules adopted by the International Cooperatives Association (ICA) as principles of cooperatives. Known as the first cooperative established in Turkey, “the ark of the Homeland” organization close to two out of the past century when, although we are not able to say that cooperatives Umeda received adequate road. An agricultural country as defined in Turkey, Turkish society is at the core of “shared work” desired revitalizing the cultural development of cooperatives should be provided.

These peptides, which can be supplemented to diet or water, are effective not only against bacteria but also against fungi, viruses and parasites. In this article, the definition, the structures, the types, the sources of production, the application areas, the microorganisms they act on and the mechanism of action of antimicrobial peptides and information about the studies related to their use in poultry nutrition will be given.

This study was carried out to investigate the changes in semen characteristics, hormonal profile and testicular morphometry of West African Dwarf (WAD) goat bucks treated with danazol. For this purpose, eighteen matured WAD bucks average of about two years were randomly divided into groups A, B and C comprising of six bucks per group. Group A was the control while B and C bucks were given danazol at a dose rate of 20mg/kg body weight orally daily for four weeks. The group B bucks’ testes were harvested thereafter for gross and histo-morphometric studies while those of group C were left intact but danazol treatment was withdrawn for four more weeks. The bucks’ semen samples (collected by electro-ejaculation) and hormonal samples (taken via the jugular vein) were analyzed. The semen characteristics studied included color, volume, mass activity, motility, percentage normal live-dead ratio, morphology and concentration; while the hormones studied included testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Results show that there were significant decreases in semen characteristics of group B and C bucks compared with those of group A in the first four weeks. The semen characteristics of the group C bucks were reversed to normal range (similar to those of group A bucks) two weeks after danazol treatment was withdrawn. Similar results were observed with the hormonal studies. In conclusion, danazol caused a reversed reduction in sperm cells characteristics suggesting its possible use as a contraceptive in WAD goat bucks.

Xanthomonas aXonopodis pv. phaseoli (Xap)’nin neden olduğu adi yaprak yanıklığı hastalığı, tropikal ve subtropikal iklimlerde önemli verim kayıplarına neden olan ve tohumla taşınan en önemli fasulye bakteriyel etmenlerinden biridir. Hastalıkla mücadelede antibiyotikler ve bakırlı preparatlar kullanılmakta, ancak patojenin dirençli mutantlarına ve fitotoksisiteye neden olmaları nedeniyle sorunlar yaşanmaktadır. Bor (B), bitki için temel bir besin elementidir ve ayrıca bitki hastalıklarına direnç sisteminde önemli bir rol oynar. Bu çalışmada, 12 farklı bor bileşiğinin Xap üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmıştır. In vitro denemelerde, kimyasalların Xap popülasyon gelişimlerine etkileri ve MIC değerleri belirlenmiştir. Kontrollü koşullarda, 6 haftalık hassas fasulye çeşidi Aras 98 bitkileri, 108 CFU ml-1 yoğunlukta Xap süspansiyonu ile inokule edilmişlerdir. Bitkiler, in vitro’da belirlenen ve kimyasala göre değişen 5 farklı (1, 5, 10, 20, 40 mM) konsantrasyonda 7 gün ara ile iki kez muamele edilmişlerdir. Hastalık şiddeti, 1-9 skalası ile değerlendirilmiş ve kontrole göre (%81,15) en düşük hastalık şiddetine sahip bileşikler; sodyum tetrafloraborat (%13,88) ve potasyum tetrafloraborat (%15,38) olarak belirlenmiştir. En düşük hastalık şiddeti ise borik asit uygulaması (%78) ile elde edilmiştir. Bitkilerde kimyasalların fitotoksik etkileri tespit edilmemiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara bağlı olarak, bazı bor bileşiklerinin, fasulyede adi yaprak yanıklığı hastalığı üzerindeki önemli etkileri ile organik ve sürdürülebilir tarım içerisinde yer alabileceği düşünülmektedir.

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of vermicompost application on the growth of pepper seedlings. Fertilizer doses and application time applied to plants are among the most important factors affecting seedling quality in seedling production. Vermicompost products have many advantages from plant development to soil regulating effects, antioxidant effect and the use of all kinds of wastes (plant, animal, industrial, etc.) in production. Seedling mortar (70% peat and 30% perlite), which was constituted in the study, constituted the control group of the study. Pepper seedlings were grown by adding different doses of vermicompost (5, 10, 20%) to this control group. The properties of the vermicompost used were pH: 7.5, EC: 2.15 dS m-1, C / N: 18.71, organic matter: 64%, N: 1.25%, K2O: 1.02%, P2O5: 0.55 %). In the study, full fertilizer (EC: 1) dose and semi fertilizer (EC: 2) dose were applied in fertilization. Köylüm pepper varieties was used in the study. Total output rate (%), stem length (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves (number), stem length (cm), wet and dry leaf weight (g), wet and dry body weight (g), wet and dry root weight (g) properties were determined. According to the control group, 10 and 20% vermicompost application of pepper seedlings wet weight, dry body weights and wet and dry root dry weights were statistically increased. The first emergence of plant seedlings and their marketable times were withdrawn early by vermicompost application. At the end of the study, it was determined that some of the properties examined with vermicompost application to control mortar increased. Vermicompost application showed good performance in working as an organic fertilizer that can be mixed with peat and perlite mixture.

Tokat, which is located between the Black Sea Region and the Central Anatolia Region and has a transition climate, is one of the provinces with high agricultural potential. This potential also provides important advantages in terms of vegetable agriculture. In Tokat, where the vegetable cultivation dates back to many years, many types of vegetables can be grown. While the farmers engaged in vegetable cultivation until the beginning of the 2000s were satisfied with their situation, in the last 15 years, growers have started to turn to alternative products due to the decrease in quality, productivity and profitability. There are significant difficulties and decreases in competitiveness of vegetable farming in the field and greenhouse cultivation. In the study, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of vegetable cultivation of Tokat were analysed. Solutions for the improvement of vegetable cultivation have been discussed by making determinations.

In this study, principal component analysis has been applied on data comprising of 6675 gene and 20 sequence collected by using cDNA microarray technology from livers of mice used in toxicology studies in certain time periods. Forming of gene groups from similar expression profiles and description of related genes which are implemented by similar component loads among the groups have been explained by using this cDNA technology. Besides that, interpretation and decomposition of factors (components) from correlation matrix which belongs to same data group have been explained. Some of the methods developed for minimizing the data set to fewer components which can explain the whole data structure have been evaluated. According to methods, if we assume that the first 9 eigen values are enough to describe the whole variance, then in this case, it is thought that it is good enough to describe the whole variance by using 9 eigen values with a variance loss of 20,79% instead of describing the whole variance by using 20 eigen values.
