It was carried out, in the nursery area located at Campus of Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) Minas Gerais, an experiment aiming to evaluate different doses of simple super phosphate and two substrates in plant production of loquat tree. It was tested four doses of simple super phosphate (0; 2.5; 5; 10 kg m-3 of substrate) and two substrates: A (organic compost + sand + soil in 1:1:3 volume proportion) and B ( Plantmax + sand + soil 1:1:3 volume proportion) A randomized block design was used with a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, with four replications and four plants per plot. The following characteristics were evaluated: high of plants (cm); length of root (cm); number of leaves/plant, dry matter of above ground part, roots and total (g/plant). The results showed that for seedlings of loquat tree, it is recommended to mix to substrate the super phosphate fertilizer in doses until 6 kg m-3. Between the substrates, the one the showed more viable was the substrate A (organic compost + sand + soil in 1:1:3 volume proportions).

This work was developed with the objective of evaluating the development of the rocket fertilized with different organic fertilizers and irrigated with water of different salinity levels. The design was used randomized entirely in a factorial scheme 5 x 4, resulting in 20 treatments with 3 repetitions, being the experimental unit acted by a plant/vase. The first factor was composed by 5 levels of salinity of the irrigation water and the second by 4 different compositions of the substrates (S1 - Soil, S2 - Soil + Manure bovine (3: 1), S3 - Soil + Manure ovino/caprino (3: 1) and S4 - Soil + earthworm Humus (3: 1)). They were appraised the number of leaves, leaf area and matter dries of the aerial part. The number of leaves, leaf area and matter dries of the aerial part were reduced with increment of the salinity of the irrigation water. The sources of organic fertilizer studied influenced significantly in the answer of the rúcula the salinity, being an alternative for the cultivation of this vegetable under saline condition. The bovine manure presented the best acting in the development of the plants.

The objective of evaluating the effect of salinity water irrigation of the for vegetative phase of castor culture, it was developed a greenhouse experiment at Environmental SciencesDepartment of UFERSA. The experimental delineating used was entirely randomized with six treatments and three replications. The soil utilized was eutrofic red-yellow latossol and the treatments were six waters with different salinity levels (0,5; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0; 2,5; 3,0 dS·m-1). The cropping was carried out with the BRS 149-Nordestina variety. The variables evaluated were: chemical-physical characteristics of the soil (pH, electrical conductivity, Ca, Mg e Na), and in the plant, the plant height, stalk diameter, fresh and dry matter. It was observed that the soil under went the influence of the waters utilized: the pH, Electrical Conductivity and changeable Na with the water salinity. With the increase of the salinity, the plant development decreased.

Soil microbial biomass (SMB) is considered a significant nutrient pool in soils, that may be associated to changes in the vegetation cover. In order to estimated the SMB C and N contents, six treatments were installed in mature forests (F), 8-year-old mixed plantations of indigenous tree species (P), and abandoned pastures (G), at both the flooding (V) and the sloping (M) areas of the Poço das Antas Biological Reserve, an Atlantic Rain Forest remnant of ca. 5,200ha. Soil samples were collected at the layers 0-2.5cm, and were incubated to alsomeasure soil respiration rates. There was no significant difference among the treatments for SMB-C content and for the soil respiration rate, but the plantation on the flooding area showed a higher value for SMB-N than that on the sloping area plantation. Higher values of metabolic quotient (qCO2) and of Cmic:Nmic ratio suggest the plantation on the sloping area has a lower stability than the plantation on the flooding area.

This work makes a approach of the familiar agriculture of the Assentamento Redonda in the City of Icapuí in the State of the Ceará, objectifying tytisy to identify, to classify the familiar agriculturists having for base the survival strategies put in practical for these actors in the process of local development. The methodology adopted in the work searched to make possible adequate knowledge of the agricultural activity and the agricultural agriculturist, through the analysis of economic performance and parameters that they make possible to measure the stimulus to the investment in the production, as well as the degrees of integration to the market and specialization of the production. In accordance with the gotten results, in the studied locality, the properties are considered integrated to the market and possess greater specialization in the cattle production and of cashew chestnut. Between the studied producers, it has low stimulus to invest in the farming production; this if must to the fact from that the majority of the income of the seated ones is proceeding from other sources as: retirements, pensions, stock market family (bolsa família), wages and others, what it becomes the agricultural activity relatively less attractive. Words Key: Tipificação, Familiar Agriculture, System of Production, Icapuí-ce.

The objective of this paper was to know the species of the leafminer (Diptera: Agromyzidae) associated with melon plant Cucumis melo L., in the Chapada do Apodi, semi-arid region of the Rio Grande do Norte state, and report losses due to leafminer mining. This way, leaves infested with leafminer larvae were collected in the field and carried to laboratory, in order to obtain pupae. These pupae were placed inside glass containers until adults emergence. All identified adults belonged to Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess). In some farms leafminer caused losts that range from 10 to 15% of the whole area, due to low fruit ºbrix value. From pupae also emerged some Opius sp. (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) individuals, a leafminer natural enemy, endoparasites the larva-pupae of L. trifolii.
